Bose T20: Running audio to 2nd TV?

Greetings,

Really rather pleased with this only I run a 2nd HDMI via a splitter to a 2nd TV in the kitchen. It's passing video through but no audio.

From the looks of things I think I need to run a separate cable (composite) for stereo sound.

Is there some other solution I'm overlooking and what sort of cable would be the best to use? I'd like the cable to be as thin as possible.

Maybe I could run a 3.5mm (Kitchen TV) to 2 x RCA (Bose) audio cable between them?

Or I could just run an audio cable out from the Sky HD box to the 2nd TV e.g. optical (I "think" that would work since we only watch Sky on the 2nd TV anyway).

If you 'split' the Output of the SKY+ HD box the splitter ought to be creating two identical Outouts.

If the SKY box is set to HD Video + 5.1 audio via HDMI (ideal for your Surround system) your Kitchen TV will have to support 5.1 or you get no Sound!

Try setting SKY to 'normal' audio via HDMI - assuming that works for the Kitchen TV you could use an Optical cable between SKY and the Surround system for 5.1..

Hi Joe,

I tried as you suggested but this did not work. It was worth a shot.

I've done it!

After a bit of head scratching I realised that in one of the Bose settings, I'd chosen not to send sound to the TV speakers (at the time I was thinking about the Lounge TV) and by simply turning that on, has in turn provided audio to the Kitchen TV.

This makes sense since by this being off meant the HDMI out was only carrying video so all in all a huge relief. No more cabling needed!

Just to add, the Kitchen TV now has audio regardless as to whether I choose Normal or Dolby D within my Sky+ HDMI sound settings.
