the lifestly 18 connects to its own active speakers with an ubilical amplifier is in the sub so to connect to pasive AM5 you would need an external amplifier (a messy way to do things better of with the powered speakers (sub) from Bose)

Do I also need an expansion bose remote control for additional rooms, or will the provided remote for the lifestyle 18 be ok?

depends on what you are doing.... do you hve a an LS18 in one room and want to add a second room? if so a bose (SA-1 amp IIRC) amp and zone 2 kit is best as Bose RF remote will work through walls, but will control LS18 funcions not zone 2

ZOne 2 kit is an interface box with a second remote and out puts for an amplifier, gives you stereo source control for zone 2 ie main room zone 1 watching a DVD in 5.1, in zone 2 listen to radio or external source box (CD player, MD, DAB tuner etc)

Hi. all i am currently hooking up a Bose lifestyle 18 and 38
and i am trying to run two zones on each system. i have two Bose SA-3 External amplifiers wich i want to run my outside speakers with wich are Klipsch. and i have two media 2 remotes. i do not have zone two controllers. can the media two remotes work?. i got one media remote to control the lifestyle 18 but does nothing on the 38. when the amplifiers are hooked up the light just keeps blinking green slowly. how do i set the room code or the code on the amp. please if anyone can help me i would greatly appreciate it.
