A mate of mine is a after a house friendly speaker system and is thinking of the Bose AM15 set up. Anyone out there had any experience of these (good or bad). He is arranging a demo locally but any feedback you guys could give would be appreciated.

they are small lack midrange should be able to negotiate 5-10% off list or better get free brackets or stands. but tell "your mate" to demo and listen to them, not look at them.

I've just purchased the AM15 MKII speakers and they are a great improvement over the MKI. I'd recommend them.

Horny, you seem to know bose, I have a quick question for you. I am contemplating an AM15 or 16 (6.1). Is it possible to get a 15 and add VCS-10 for center? I presume as a dedicated center speaker it would be better than a twin cube. The reason I am asking is cause bose are weird the way they all go through the sub

I was set on the AM15's for my lounge as they look great and have the reputation of being class leaders.

However I had heard lots of negative feedback on this forum so I had an audition.

In isolation, these sound really good. However put them against the opposition at their price point and they then don't sound so good.

I heard them against the KEF Eggs and MS Genies, and couldn't believe the difference. Vocals were much more natural - music played through the system felt much more hi-fi. There was better integration of the sub with the satellites. I was convinced that the hifi store had wired the Bose incorrectly and got them to check the connections!

If all you've heard is the bose, and you hear it in someone's lounge they sound impressive - much better that the £300-£500 sound system.

I went for the Genies and am delighted with them.

That's why it's always best to go for a demo. Let your ears be the judge :)
