    Hey All,
I went into the games shop the other day and was amazed by the lack of anything new & good at the moment.
I ended up getting one new game 'Silent Hunter III' which I am enjoying.
I also filled the gap on games I missed first time around with 'Max Payne 2' & 'Side Miers : Pirates' though I wished I had passed on Pirates and had instead got 'Hearts of Iron 2' .
Short of waiting for Battlefield 2, Vice City & Halo 2 has anyone got any favourite games of the moment they are playing?

I managed to play World of Warcraft the other week in someones house whilst they was away on holiday and I really enjoyed it. It reminded me a bit of a 3D Diablo but was chock full of quest(never ending from what I could see). The only thing after the first month it is between £8/9 a month to play. but thats only £2 a week and is going to last a long time as you can make different characters.

I would also recommend last years Thief:The Deadly Shadows.

if your waiting for halo 2 on the pc then your gonna be waiting a very very long time and then be dissapointed as its not coming to the pc as of yet. bungie have said there is no plans to do it and i think they will not do it as they are probably working on halo 3 for next gen.

give Splinter cell chaos theory demo a try its a superb game with awesome story and graphics

Resident Evil 4 (GC), Metroid Prime 2 (GC), Viewtiful Joe 2 (GC/PS2), Half-Life 2 (PC), Trackmania Sunrise (PC), Darwinia (PC), Devil May Cry 3 (PS2), Star Ocean - Till the end of time (PS2), Gradius V (PS2)

Loads to choose from really, unless you only have an XBOX :)

rugby 2005 is a bit of an unpolished gem, quite good!

swat 4 is supposed to be good.

have a look at gamerankings.com for a list.

So why not get it now?

It's a game with a LOT of replayability. I'm still playing it to the exclusion of most other games. Of course last night was an early night as I only played it till 12.10am..... :boring:

The only game keeping me going just now waiting for Battlefield 2 is City of Heros. Like WOW a monthly fee of £9 after your first free month.
Play.com had it for £17.99 with a 3 month sub at £27 that gives 4 months for a good price , if you want to dabble in the MMO genre.
I have never been so hooked onto a game ever and as a 42 year old who's played since Binatone's pong in the early 70's thats saying something.

Thanks for some inspiration guys.
I ordered 'Thief - Deadly Shadows' but missed out on the play.com £9.99 deal as they are sold out now.
Also ordered 'Darwinia' & 'Rugby 2005'.
I'm not really in to MMO's, so skipped on them.
Should keep me busy for a little while.

    Cheers all.

Knights of the Old Republic 2 is good, if you can get past the rough ending. Look out for Jade Empire on Xbox, too. If you like a bit of strategy, the Rome Total War is very impressive indeed. Eventhe music is good on that one. Also, if you haven't got Chronicles of Riddick, then that is a stellar game.

Brothers In Arms is worth a play. Nice outdoor missions and good atmosphere

Battle for Middle Earth On line is also a fun challenge

hmmm not sure why it matters what console he's got as he's asking for recommendations for PC games :D .

I'd definately suggest Hearts of Iron 2 - a superb game and i've put quite a few hours into it over the last few months!

    Seconded.

Also see the thread about the game http://www.avforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=184206&page=1

How are you doing now gthom3? As Poland I've annexed Germany and am at the tipping point of defeating the Soviet Union (along with my British & French allies). Moscow, Leningrad and Sevastopol are all mine. :)

I've been playing mainly multiplayer with my mate - we're now on a game with me as the US and him as the Soviets. He's currently defeating Germany and i'm still building my Navy/marines and researching  . We played a game with me as Germany and him as the SU but he conceeded that one.

    Probably stating the obvious here:

Halo: Combat Evolved (old, but good!)
    Half Life 2
    Doom 3
    Far Cry
    Unreal Championship 2003/4
    Rome: Total War
