Hi,

1st post, hope I aint in the wrong section or anything.

Well i'm looking for some bookshelf speakers. My cousin has some of the large floor standing B+Ws and they sound great.

I've been looking around for some bookshelf B+Ws and came across the DM303

I then saw that it won speaker of the year back in 2001/2002 http://www.eisa-awards.org/history/2001-2002/index.html which means they've been out for a while and has possibly (likely??) been bettered, looking through the EISA site i saw thta the speaker of the year award this year was won by another bookshelf the KEF iq3.

Looking for reviews on the net and they are both praised and seem like good buys.

I was wondering which you guys would go for? The B+W are within my budget and have found them for £180 for the pair. With the KEF being newer I guess they would be more expensive, but I haven't been able to find them anywhere (UK). Other speaker recomendations are welcome too (as you may have figured from my terminology i'm not all that clued up on speakers :() I know that the best thing to do is listen to the speakers in action, so I will do this before buying.

The speakers will be connected to my PC, and the current setup is an Altec Lansing 2.1 (http://www.alteclansing.com/product_details_2100_discontinued.asp). They were pretty cheap but produce decent enough sound for me (I am a student living in uni halls so the room isn't massive). But i've had them for about 3 years and the sub just went...

If any futher info is needed just shout

Thanks

Anyone?

Have I missed some info?

Wrong section?

Just to add the speakers will be used for Music, TV, DVDs and Gaming (all through the PC)

Hooked up to your PC ? via what amp?

Either would be fantastic but it boils down to your personal preference. Try and listen to them (if you can find the iQ3's). I would obviously go for the Kef's but then again I'm biased towards them, and the fact that they just won the eisa award doesnt hurt either.

Sorry this is my sound card

Regards the AMP what would be suitable , not really got a budget but something fairly cheap. (I am very lacking in amp knowledge, so if anyone knows a decent begginers guide)

I have also just seen the IQ3s in the UK but for £280, which is a bit high. Is there anything a little newer than the 303s (£180) but similar in price? Or can the 303s still hold their own?

Snook.

Thanks i'll look into the card.

I'm going to nip down to the manchester SuperFi in the next few days to have a listen to a few speakers. I'll let you know what I see/hear.
