Hated Boogie Nights because it was long, ponderous and not very funny. Great subject matter but lame treatment... and half way through Andersson seemed to decide the movie needed pace and went all Scorcese. Hasn't he heard of cutting.

Magnolia however I did like... Though once again it could have been pruned by a good half hour and Andersson was over indulgent in places. I actually felt Magnolia was a TV movie however... Nothing more than a well acted, well written and slightly quirky soap.

I thought Boogie Nights was far far better than Magnolia, but I love them both so its all good news!

I would have preferred a slightly more conclusive ending to Magnolia but I guess the one it has lets you draw your own conclusions.
