The usual statements:
EON Productions’ Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli:

"We are delighted to announce that the exceptionally talented Danny Boyle will be directing Daniel Craig in his fifth outing as James Bond in the 25th installment of the franchise. We will begin shooting ‘Bond 25’ at Pinewood Studios in December with our partners at MGM and are thrilled that Universal will be our international distributor.”

MGM’s chairman of the board of directors Kevin Ulrich:

"Under the leadership of Michael and Barbara, we couldn’t be more thrilled than to bring the next 007 adventure to the big screen uniting the incomparable Daniel Craig with the extraordinary vision of Danny Boyle."

MGM films president Jonathan Glickman:

"It has been 16 years since ‘Die Another Day’ was distributed by MGM and it’s incredibly gratifying to be releasing this film alongside the powerhouse team at Universal."

Then chairman of Universal Pictures, Donna Langley:

"Universal is extremely proud to collaborate with Michael, Barbara and MGM on the international marketing and distribution of Bond 25. The unparalleled combination of Danny’s innovative filmmaking and Daniel’s embodiment of 007 ensured we simply had to be partners in the next chapter of this iconic series."

Get rid of Daniel Craig and bring in Dan Stevens and I'm in.

Reportedly gonna pocket now close to £70m once the film is done with.

The producers appear not to have faith in anyone else taking the role right now, if they're willing to spend that much on Craig.

No disrespect to the man either, but I saw another picture of him wandering around yesterday. And even given the wonders of make-up, it'll take something Bond-esque to get him back in shape! Otherwise we're in late Roger Moore territory for this one!

He’s got several months to get back in shape though.

Imagine he’ll have a personal trainer for several hours each day :D

I'd be quite prepared to put money on him being in much better shape than I am by the time he starts filming

Agreed, you can’t compare him to an old Moore. Craig has been in shape and by the look of him now, it really wouldn’t take too long to get back into some decent condition.. you’re talking months. And if he has any topless shots, you know there’ll be plans in place right down to the day of the shoot to make sure he looks his best (was no different in VanDammes era and even Jackman mentioned how specific it was - down to having dumbells on the set on the day of the shoot).

Anyone else other than an earlier poster object to Boyle? Great choice imo, with a more impressive filmography than past directors. Eon/Bond needs Boyle more than Boyle needs Bond imo.

EDIT ...
Seeing as Hodge is on board with Boyle too, hopefully he'll also bring in the Underworld boys (Karl Hyde and Rick Smith) and their Tomato collective for the soundtrack and title sequence. Great performance in Belfast last night!

I'd even say he looks better than Brosnan in Die Another Day, who was still younger than him at time of release.

I certainly don't object to Boyle, but nothing about Bond excites me anymore. Nor does Boyle directing fill me with any more enthusiasm than when Sam Mendes took the reigns. I didn't think Mendes was capable of botching Spectre but he did. No guarantees that Boyle will pull Bond from the ashes.

As for my earlier post I think everyone missed the point I probably in fairness didn't make very well. I certainly wasn't comparing Craig to Moore's physical prowess!!

Yeah, at least there's another Mission Impossible film out shortly. Consistently reliable these days.

Yep, the last Mission Impossible was better than any Bond film from the last 30 odd years. With the exceptions of course of Casino Royale and Goldeneye. Funnily enough both directed by the same bloke, Martin Campbell. I wonder if he's available for Bond 25!!

I do enjoy a good Bond film of course, but despite their huge popularity still, I feel the franchise has been on the slide for a long time. A good Bond film is more the exception than the rule now :(

Pierce Bronson is suggesting Tom Hardy would make a good Bond.

Dua Lipa rumoured to be recording the theme
- Years & Years let the cat out of the bag when asked in a 5 live interview if they'd do it

Tbh, I've never heard of her, never heard of Years & Years until quite recently

Never heard of her either, but can't be any worse than the last one :)

Unfortunately it’s never going to happen now for a number of reasons (not least age) but, to be honest I’d have preferred Hardy in his young fresh era before he got a bit too comfortable engendering menace through intense mumbling.

Closest we’ll get is the charming hustler from Inception, which is pretty much how I’d like the next bond to be (I.e. a tiny bit lighter, as has been the pattern - Connery vs Moore, Dalton vs Brosnan).

I was hoping for Underworld due to their long association with Boyle, but wouldn't be surprised if they're involved with composing the soundtrack

Yeah they’d never get a Bond title track gig, but hopefully some work on the score as you say.
