Bold 9000 no sim

Anyone found a solution to the 'no sim inserted' error ? I've upgradede and downgraded the software.

does it say no sim inserted or invalid sim card?

i know it sounds simple but have you checked the sim card is inserted the right way round?

have you tried another sim card in it? might be a problem with your card.

It says no sim card inserted. It workd fine before a trip to India, where we tried a local card that didn't work, and since I've been back it doesn't want to know. It is unlocked to any network, so any sim should work. I've phoned Orange to make sure its not blacklisted and it isn't. We can't work it out.

Yes I've tried known working SIMs, and all of them come up the same. In India they said something about needing an update from the service provider, but when I came back here it would boot up with some bizarre message about not being able to verify some checksum. Then I downgraded the software, and now it just doesn't see the sim. Could of course be hardware related, but I'm hoping it's something I can fix.
