Decided to watch this series that had been on BBC3 now shown on BBC1 for the first time and found it showing the darker side of hospitals and how they close ranks when thinks go wrong. It was not for the faine hearted with blood galore squirting all over the show.

Anybody wanting to see a grittier story than the usual hospital dramas should find this worth while if they can get into it. Be warned if you are going in hospital in the near future I would not recommend it.

As the old adage says “Doctors bury there mistakes”.

Yes. It's written by Jed Mercurio who used to be a doctor in a Birmingham hospital in a previous life and is not for the faint hearted.

I would hate to think that there was any truth in the storylines, especially last week's where one senior surgeon doctored a patient's notes in the hope that his colleague would kill her whilst operating so that he would get the top job.

Despite being very gruesome it's sharply written and well acted and has been a "Series Pass" on my Tivo since the first series. Constant rumpy pumpy helps to pass the time away in between mutilations too :D

First ep was a good opener, but I'm not sure that the story can sustain over the next 9 weeks.
As ep 2 seemed to bring the story to a partial close I'm guessing that there are some good surprises coming.

The first series was superb and so far the new series is looking as good. Definitely not for the squeamish!

What a good series this has been, and the special effects have been very realistic maybe too realistic  . Well done the effects department and I hope there is an other series and with Keith Allen in it what a poo he was although very few times turned up trumps.

It was surprisingly good for a Saturday night when the tradition has been to put on rubbish. The interaction between the medics was good and they used a very unusual technique of filming the "doctors'" faces when they weren't doing or saying anything.

The main thing that let it down were the two Admin people, the hospital chief and his female assistant who bore no relationship to reality at all and didn't even have any sensible lines to say either.

I'm not sure about the ending either as it all seemed a bit contrived and ridiculous with the senior consultant being sacked and escorted off the premises for not paying for his coffee in the canteen.

I really enjoyed the series but I hope that it doesn't come back as I think that they have exhausted the story and it doesn't have anywhere else to go.

I think that has actually happened in one NHS hospital.

The bad news series 2 was the last series to be made they have desided not to make an other one.:thumbsdow

The good news is they are going to film a 90 minute special to tie up any loose ends.

Not an avid fan of this series by any means but did appreciate the abilities of all involved on the odd occassion I saw it though.

I can't believe there's only been 2 series of it. It seems to have been around longer.

I'm pleased that they won't be making another series as I much prefer it when TV series go out on a high rather than struggling on when the originality and ideas have gone. Shameless and Ali McBeal are two excellent series that struggled on well past their sell by date and for those of us with longer memories try comparing the episodes from the original series of programmes like Minder and Rumpole to those from later series

I never really watched Shameless or Ali McBeal but I do think Minder went down hill towards the end although I though it picked of the one series that Terry left.

As for Rumpole Leo could do no wrong in my eyes and wish it was still on, and watch the repeats when ever possible, no matter which series.

I just hope Judge John Deed has not petered of as last weeks was not up to the standard of the last series.

Well I just managed to catch the final part last night on BBC3, does anyone know if this was a one off as such a bit seemed to have gone on fron the end of the last series, but as I said there was going to be a 90 min one and this was 90 min.

Of which I must have spent one third staring resolutely at the ceiling as there was even more blood and guts than normal.

Looking back at the earlier posts I see that last year I wondered whether the level of incompetence by doctors in this series mirrored real life at all and last week my wife who is a nurse told me that at the hospital that she's with a dental surgeon managed to extract a healthy tooth last week instead of the problem tooth on the other side of the patient's mouth.

Not quite in the same league perhaps but worrying enough.

They usually repeat them on the either BBC1 or 2 after its been on BBC3, so keep an eye out. (not literally of course),

I seem to remember them once taking out someones heathy kidney and leaving the bad one in.
