Anyone else ordered this DVD from BMW? Anyone have it already??
Just received it yesterday. Took 11 days to arrive. It wasn't inside an envelope or anything. Just the address slapped on the plastic wrap of the case. It was quite lucky that it arrived in one piece.
That's outrageous They charge £5 for P&P and that's what you get for your dosh?
I think if the actual disc arrives in cood condition then it's still a good deal. It's a crappy case anyway. Better but it in a proper Amaray.
I'll expect to see mine in a million pieces then, especially if my dog gets to the post before I do.
No amaray? Not good.
That's the last Beamer I buy, then
I can't believe you have to pay £5 for adverts.
I might have ordered one if it was free but i can think of other things to waste a fiver on.
Why is the P&P £5????
Does it come by FedEx from Germany????
When I've posted DVDs the postage is 60p or £1.24 recorded.
Why £5? All marketing no doubt. They say the DVD is free, but then they charge $7.75 USD for P&P.
It definitely doesn't cost $7.75 USD to ship an item, as noted above, even from the US and even if it came in an Amaray. It certainly costs much less to send a disk without an Amaray - it must be as light as a feather!
C'moon people. £5 is nothing for that dvd. If you don't want to pay for it, just download the shorts from the web.
True. I put more than that in charity collections.
In fact, I spend more than that on rizlas in a fortnight
You're right, just I would prefer them to be honest about it and say the DVD is £5 including P&P rather than trying to hide the cost in extreme P&P charges. It is, after all, a promotional item for them.
Interesting to compare to Honda who gave their DVD away TOTALLY free of charge. As far as I'm aware, BMW give this away totally free only to BMW owners. This is odd because you would think it's non-BMW owners that they'd want to woo. But then I'm a Honda owner, so I'm probably biased
My own reason for not buying it is simply because it's non-anamorphic 2.35:1 NTSC so resolution will be unbearable for me on my CRT (I can stomach 1.85:1 non-anamorphic NTSC). They did the 5.1 mix, shame they didn't do the anamorphic transfer. If it were anamorphic, I probably would've parted with the fiver
The price of Rizlas these days is shocking isn't it
Sure is. I remember when 50p would get you 8 packets of rizlas and a hundredweight of Golden Virginia.
I also remember when all this was fields
I Got my copy through the post today, the dvd came with just a sticker on the front with my name and address on.
Dvd includes eight short films which are
Beat the Devil
I am delighted with my copy....
Well worth the money.....by the way i don't own or drive a bmw
Mine arrived today, yes the packaging was just the DVD case but hey, it's not broke so I ain't whinging. Looks good to me.
So although the DVD is shiped just via the case with a sticker, It comes intact?
I'm surprised it arrives at all. You'd think that with a charge of $7+ they'd at least lay out for an envelope so the robbin' posties couldn't see what it is.
yeah, it arrived fine, the address is just stuck on to the wrapping around the case. I agree, you'd have thought they'd have whacked it in an envelope.
Got mine at the weekend. I have to say I'm surprised it arrived in one piece (if at all) given that it's a shrinkwrapped amaray with an address sticker on the wrapping.
Still, the disc's great IMHO, well worth the £5 I paid. I must have taken about 3 hours to go through what's on the disc. I was impressed with all the films, they were all a lot longer than I thought they'd be, the audio was solid and the bonus material (there's a lot of it) was top notch.
It's helpful if you like cars a bit too though
As an aside, I thought the car chases and stunts were better in these short BMW ads than the stuff in Matrix Reloaded
Got my BMW film today and it arrived in a proper DVD case!
Got mine as well.. love the Beat the devil with James Brown.
BTW if you think BMW are bad.. the Nissian DVD "The Run" inc postage (you have to buy the DVD) comes in at $25 for a 7 min feature!!
I seem to remember reading somewhere that you can get a HDTV version of some of the BMW films on the internet, from the Microsoft website under WMP9 (windows media player 9?) demos (but I couldn't find it).
Gotta love Honda
Don't u mean Nissan ?
No, Squirrel God really loves Honda - read his post on page one.
His avatar used be a Honda Civic type-R if I recall correctly...
Where can you get The Run for $25? I called NIssan US and they quoted me $55 delivered to the UK!!!!
This breaks down as $9.95 for the DVD, $30 for shipping (!) and $15 for 'customs' which includes some sort of customs handling fee. I get the impression that they just can't be bothered.
Can you download this film anywhere?
I rang nissan and got quoted 9.95 for the disc and $15 shipping.. they did mumble something about a customs charge.. but even at $25 it would be under the £18 limit??
All very odd..
Well I stupidly ordered "The Run" and what do you know my CC has been charged for £30 (which I guess is about $55) - guess I will be on the phone to the US this afternoon!
£30 for a seven minute DVD.. I have already sent a furious email to their customer services!!
I wonder if my CC company would take it up for me ?
What's the DVD got on it?
either Nissan or BMW!
Are they cool demo discs?
Well it seems my dvd has shipped and Nissan US are adamant I agreed to pay the full amount.. what the fudge is a $15 customs fee!!!!
I reckon I have bought the most expensive DVD ever £30 for 7 minutes!!!
It better be F****** amazing.
Only £30? You were lucky - maybe they undercharged you
