Basically I went to watch I Am Legend last night and my PS3 wouldn't pump out any sound except regular stereo. No Dolby Digitial sound at all???

I checked my PS3 setup and its all fine, and uses Dolby Digital for all my games, both disc and installed, and plays Dolby Digital fine for MKV files which I have on there.

But, any blurays, tried I Am Legend, Cars and Into the Blue all just give regular stereo???

The only thing that has changed since the last film was the 2.35 update?

Any ideas whats wrong and if its possible to get rid of the 2.35 update in case thats it??

Hmmmm.... Just had another look and it turns out the BD Optical Setting had changed to Linear PCM, so when I changed to Bitstream it worked OK?? Not had this before though and was always on PCM, well I thought it was anyway.

Ho hum..

That would explain it. If you are connecting PS3 via optical, it does not have enough bandwidth to carry 5.1 by LCPM. It would send it out as 2 channel stereo PCM - I think!

Ok no worries. Totally thru me as I haven't ever changed it so must have had it on bitstream before by default for it suddenly not work the update must have put it to 2.35.

Wierd. Never put it on bitstream before due to the message saying "parts of the audio may be missing".

Thx though.
