Bluetooth Newbie seeking knowledge

For the first time I have acquired bluetooth headphones (Sony WH-1000XM3 Noise Cancelling) and have succesfully paired with
my phone and MP3 player. However I find that when I disconnect from the bluetooth signal, the headphones turn off 5 minutes later
and Noise Cancelling is stopped.

Is this supposed to happen? I want the noise cancelling to be on permanently even when I am not listening to anything. For instance
in a noisy place. Thanks from the bluetooth newbie seeking knowledge.

Thank you v. much for sending me the link JayCee.
I have read through the text several times but it does not
tell me how I can keep the noise cancelling on without a bluetooth source.
Am I just a bit dense? I need some help with it I think.
Kind regards
Ant

Each time you turn them on the noise cancelling comes on by default.
Although the Bluetooth may be active you don't need to use it…just switch it off at the device you're using.

Yes I agree JayCee but when I switch off the Bluetooth the headset power switches off 5 minutes later causing the noise cancelling to switch off (to ambient): that is, no headset power,no noise cancelling!

As i understand it, you can use the sony connect app to disable the auto power off mode.
Thank you so much natty. You have cracked it! Solution is obtained:clap:
Another step up on the learning curve :lesson:
Kind regards
