    Seems to be the established favourite for securing speakers to the top plates of stands and having a decent sound.

    But wouldn't it be likely to stain or otherwise spoil the lovely real wood of my speakers?

    There is a chance of that, I think of lost a couple of specks of paint from the bottom of my speakers. But then again does it actually matter on the bottom of the speakers? To me it's more preferable than sticking spikes into them which might split the wood! :)

    If securing is not an issue, a "mouse pad" can be substituted to give some acoustic benefit.
