    Heres an interesting short article!

Looks like the PS3 will have a blu ray player after all!

And this should be what we see in terms of next gen i def video formats too.

Im glad the decided on one format!

Seems a good compromise, from what I've read. Sony and Blu-Ray for the hardware side with the HD-DVD side taking the firmware control side. I really don't care so long as they end up with just one no-propriety format. :)

If the PS3 has blu-ray it certainly won’t be cheap…

And you'll probably have to buy a new drive or PS3 after a year or so, know Sony's track record hoho

Looks like these announcements have been premature, as statements from Toshiba, and now Sony seem to be denying that any agreement has been reached. However, Nihon Kiezai Shimbun (who made the original report) have been in this situation before, where they report a news story, it is denied by parties concerned, but then are proven correct shortly afterwards. We shall have to wait and see.

It would be nice if it does happen, format wars are just a pain in the arse.
