Hi!

I have a Sony BDV-E280 BD player (AV receiver) connected to an LG TV via HDMI.

The BD just randomly decided to stop video output one day. I can still hear sound coming from the home theater system's speakers (TV speakers not used).

I've tried using different HDMI cables and connecting them to different ports of the TV, but to no avail. The funny thing is that other devices, such as PS3/PC output just fine to the same TV using the same ports and cables. Using the BD on another TV works fine as well. The BD just won't output video to the LG TV.

I have turned off the "HDMI control" of the TV and BD, and that did not help. I have also done a factory reset on both, but still nothing.

Any ideas what might be going on?

Welcome to the forum.

Reset the HDMI interface on both the TV and the BD Player by strictly following:

1 - Disconnect both devices from mains power. ( for 15 minutes at least)
2 - Whilst unpowered, disconnect all HDMI cables from the TV.
3 - Reconnect TV only and switch on for a minute, then turn TV off.
4 - Reconnect HDMI interconnect between Player and TV.
5 - Repower Player but do not switch on.
6 - Turn on TV
7 - After TV has run for a minute, turn on the player.

Good luck

Is it possible that the player is outputting at a resolution that the TV is not capable of reproducing?

Try setting the output resolution to 'Automatic' if it is not already on that setting, or reducing the resolution setting if it is ( ...using another display device obviously.)
