Blu Ray or DVD?

Good afternoon, was just wondering your opinions on whether or not the following tittles are worth getting on Blu Ray or DVD:

Cast Away
Deer Hunter
Casino
Platoon

Am curious with the upgrades differences on the two formats because the HMV sale on at the moment, has those 4 movies for sale at £3 each on DVD, would it be worth paying a lot more for the blu ray?

Reviews that Ive seen have been very varied, so am wondering what people who have actualy seen them think, for instance blu ray digest gave Cast Away 5* for picture quality where as most other sites gave it a lot less!

Casino looks very nice in HD. All those Vegas lights:D A worthwhile upgrade, imo.

Deer Hunter, whilst it's never going to look amazing, the HD version (I have the US HD DVD - there's a BR out now which probably has similar qualities, maybe a tiny weeny bit better PQ) looks pretty good. Certainly if you've only ever seen the film on TV (as I had), some of it (in the mountains for example) looks absolutely excellent:smashin:

Don't know about the other 2.

Is platoon actually available on blu-ray at the moment? It's my favourite of all time so I would definitely be interested in this. I've got the definitive edition on dvd which looks pretty good.

Blu-Ray over DVD everytime.

I pretty much agree with what Domtheone said. The Deer Hunter and Casino both look great on BD, so they are definitely worthwhile upgrades over their DVD counterparts, IMO.

I haven't seen Cast Away other than on DVD, and I believe Platoon isn't even available yet?
