When are we likely to see blu-ray multi-region machines ? With BR being region locked and HD-DVD not, I would like to buy one of the PAL combo players like the Samsung UP5000 but only If I can play my Region A BR's.

Are these likely to appear anytime soon ?

The general consensus seems to be no - although nobody knows for sure and we all hope a hack is forth-coming. BluRay seem alot more protective of their regional coding system than anyone ever was with DVD :(

For now though it's two machines for many of us - Region A and B.

Previously, with DVD, we used to buy region one for a few technical reasons (no speed up and better deinterlacing with VPs). If I intend to use the 1080p24 output only, are there any differences between region 1 and 2 for Blu-Ray?
