    Hi there,

Hooked up the PS3 last night and I am pretty impressed. Got it going through my Onkyo 876 and it does sound great.

I know that you don't get the little sign on the amp saying what audio format it is but how do you know it is actually playing say DTS MASTER AUDIO or do you just take the PS3's word for it.

    cheers

    Graham

Because the decoding is done in the PS3 it will be passing the audio to the amp in LPCM and so the amp will just show Multi Channel Audio.

If using a standalone Blu-ray player you can set it to Bitstream and the amp would then do the decoding and display the appropriate audio format.

Can't remember the exact button on PS3 remote for sure as i use a Harmony remote/IR dongle for my PS3 but iirc press the select button to bring up the info screen when playing a movie.

At the top of the screen it will tell you the Audio codec. Watching Band of Brothers through my Onkyo 606 last night displaying PCM Multi the PS3 info screen said DTS HD-MA :smashin:
