    Another of the onslaught of Fox Blu-ray titles this fall debuts in one month (Oct. 2, $39.98), "Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World," with a slew of exclusive BD-Java features, including a historical and geographic trivia track and a geographic pop-up map of South America.
    The latter interactive map allows viewers to track the location and distance of Captain "Lucky" Jack Aubrey of the HMS Surprise and his enemy, the Acheron.
    Here are the official bonus feature bullet points:
    * Historical and Geographic Trivia Track
    * Geographic Pop-up Map
    * Personal Scene Selections
    * Search Content
    * Master and Commander Theatrical Trailer (HD)
    * D-Box Compatible

    The title will also include standard-def deleted scenes:
    -- Weighing Anchor
    -- Shipboard Life
    -- Superstition
    -- Dentistry
    -- Articles of War

    Here are the disc specs:

    Authored in BD-Java and AVC (MPEG 4 compression). Presented on a 50GB dual-layer disc with English 5.1 DTS HD Lossless Master Audio plus French and Spanish 5.1 Dolby Digital Sound. Subtitles: English, Spanish, French, Cantonese, Korean

    My Dad will go mad for this. Pretty much every time I go home he's always

    trying to find some excuse to put it on. All the history stuff on this will send

    him doolally (unsure of spelling).

    The SD version has probably one of the best soundtracks for surround effects IMHO. The Cannon ball attacks as they fly through the decks being one my fave sound track demo's . :thumbsup:

    Yeah the DD audio was stunning but the DTS was if anything even better and the whole two disk package was an excellent example of what DVD is capable of.
    It should turn out to be a reference disk for Blu-ray in terms of PQ, Audio and Interactive and one I would purchase if and when I have the option.

    This is a film I haven't seen, but which sounds pretty good.

    I read that too quickly, and at first I thought it said "...just hope fox don't change their minds..."!

    I hope that too.

    And that it doesn't cost the earth.

    Hopefully with it being back catalogue it might be a tad cheaper.

    My BD player is a PS3, with optical out to my Denon, so I wouldn't be able to 'take full advantage' of this.

    However, if it sounds as good as the BD of 'Identity' I won't be bothered - that sounded bloody excellent!

    yes, the dts rocked on the regular dvd version, so this new soundtrack should be even better for this top movie.

    Unless Fox have changed their policy, probably not. However, i think this is also down for a UK release, although i've not seen it available for pre-order anywhere yet.
