Hey guys, can anyone help me with what it is I'm seeing with my projector? There are these splotchy pink smudges. I think they're coming from behind the lens, as I tried cleaning the lens surface to no avail. What is it, how do I get rid of it or clean it? I have a Epson Home Cinema 8350.

You can sort of see the problem in this image. It is most evident on a white screen.

Thanks,

That could be damage to one of the polarising filters. I think this can happen if the projector has overheated, or been run for long periods at a time.

Yeah, that makes sense. Is it possible to replace those. Is it something a novice can do?

I think they can be replaced, but it requires some fairly serious dismantling of the PJ, so not something for a novice. I'm not even sure that the spare part would be readily available, so probably best to get it done by Epson if you can.
