So let me get this straight, you have a week off work (TA in a school) for half term, you are spending the day(s) with the kids & your friends, yet somehow this is as bad or even worse than having to work all day in a busy & stressful job (Me)

I came home yesterday and although tea was being cooked, I had to assault course over the kids toys with the wheelie bin that has been out all day (I put it out before work) then I have to tidy all the kids toys away into the garage.

I Mention this small little irritation of mine and seem to have started WW3

Oh and yeah it is that special time of the month too!!

My wife ia a teacher and obviously has been off all week. As yet she "hasn't had the time" to phone the insurance about water damage/leak caused to a roof by the recent bad weather. I'll bet it doesn't get done today either.

If you didn't want the hassle don't get married and don't have kids.

    Otherwise man up.

well I could man up, but no I wont be beaten! ;)

I am happy to let her be a miserable so & so for a while, if i'm honest. She is THE most stubborn thing ever and it can be quite amusing.

lol! I think your Mrs and mine have a lot in common (good thing I'm anonymous on here).

But don't underestimate how wearing it can be to look after kids all day. I have learned to *never ever* question that.

Oh I know, they can be a handful to look after, I don't envy it at all really. But still we could have a normal conversation about the bin & toys, a day or two of the silent treatment is totally unnecessary!

I know just what you mean. I often come back from the pub to find my meal ready and the house spotless, but why can't she just warm my favourite slippers and put them by the door?
I find myself having to slap her to teach her a lesson, but it makes no difference.
Women hey. And yes, I am joking and hope you were too!

My wife is a TA in a Reception class and this years intake has been awful. They have about 7 problem kids out of a class of 28. All with social issues, behavioural problems and and inability to behave properly or obey the simplest requests. She has been coming home from school totally stressed out every day, having to clean up other kids wee/poo amonsgt other things.
On top of that she then has to be bright, cheerful and interested in what our own kids are doing. I usually get in from work and make the dinner, do baths, read etc to give her a break

This week she is off on half term and frankly I dont care what she does, she needs a rest. Even looking after our two kids is harder work than I have to do in the office. Its not so much she has to use her brain so much its the fact that she has to use her brain so little - its the mind numbing repetitivness of child rearing that would do me in - having to play the same old games over and over again, watch the same films, go through the endless same old routines that the kids need.

I'd go mad in a few days of it. Frankly she can do what the hell she likes this week and I'll be happy ! :)

my wife works hard, she really does, but then so do I. I am entitled to come home and have a moan, as much as she is. Water under the bridge for me though, however she could go for days & days!

There is a definite divide with Mothers, some are to say the word earth mothers and there are other types who do not get the same fullfillment/enjoyment out of the hum drum of it all. My wife used to work in an investment bank and have exciting meetings in board rooms and so on, now she finds her self with 2 children under 7 both are now at school however she struggles to do day to day stuff like putting washing away/clearing up bedrooms as she does a. not get paid for it and b. does not get any satisfaction from it. Its only when I start doing chores on the weekend instead of spending time with the family them
the penny drops and she makes a mental note to do basic's during the week. And yes during the Holidays she does have "THE HARDEST JOB IN THE WORLD" :)

Sure you are, but try and see it from her point of view. Having a go for not putting away a few toys isn't really fair considering the tiring and time consuming day she's had. Sorry, but you deserve a bit of silent treatment for that one.

Exactly, my wife was the PA to a Sales Director in a Uk Blue Chip. Flying all around the world, arranging meetings, events etc. She finds childcare rewarding but needs a mental challenge

Well there is a difference between having a moan, and having a go. I had a moan, and it could have been all sorted now. Yet, as a woman, who i might add is never wrong! This will be the worse crime known to humanity and what a terrible husband I am. It will all blow over, no question, but do we really need to take more then 5 mins to be annoyed with someone?

The answer to any non logical females reading is no by the way.

Why don't you take the initiative and say sorry? That way you'll be friends again, everyone will feel better. Believe me it's not worth dragging it out. Life's too short.

I am mostly a stay at home dad and this pretty much sums up my situation. You feel obliged to try and run some sort of hotel like experience for your other half but ultimately every day is pretty unrewarding. The exception to this is being able to be with your kids which is a once in a lifetime opportunity.

Its easy to lose motivation and If anything gets said it tends to be you know yo haven't done all you could and get touchy about it.

On the subject of random frustrations of a house husband today I have spent ages looking for kids gloves that I always leave in the same place but my wife put in a random handbag at the weekend. Tried to play hungry hippos only to discover my she has lost most of the balls and then got a floor puzzle out only to discover some of the pieces are missing. If I mention any of this she will accuse me of being a complete pedant.

I won't go into the details of what happened to my nicely ordered Lego box this last Sunday when I went on a bike ride. Its still too painful for me to talk about it

I'm sick fed up hearing the 'you never do anything' sh*t mine spouts, just ignore it in the main though as it's got as much basis as the moon being made of cheese.

A few years back, when we only had two kids, I sent my wife down to stay with her sister for a week - she was utterly exhausted and needed a break. I took a week off work to look after the kids. That was an exhausting week for me, for the reasons already mentioned above. While my work has a significant amount of mental stress, it really put into perspective how draining being a stay at home parent can be.

I have found a correlation over the course of my marriage - the more I help out and the less tired my wife feels at the end of the day, the better the chances of super bonus happy fun time after the kids have been put to bed.
