Blood And Truth - 29th May 2019

WOW and BLOODY WOW !!! ..... As everyone is saying this game is just UNREAL !!!
Sure is a system seller for sure the development team deserve a medal for this title.
The best shooter bar none on the PSVR just a tour d force of brilliance.

Wow, just wow. No other words to explain this game. I’m not that far in (bloody kids waking up!) but what I’ve played is phenomenal, you really do feel like an action hero and love the way the music is used throughout. Can’t wait to get stuck in again, just need an excuse to leave work early lol

Gaming addiction is now officially recognised as a disease so surely you can just go home feeling ill through withdrawal symptoms and get paid

Oh the irony I work in the Addiction Field in a hospital so can fake a withdrawal symptom or 10 haha! Just gotta get the random twitches and shakes down to a t and I should be good ;)

Damnit I've got to stop reading this thread as I can see myself downloading this by the end of the weekend at this rate :)

Have such a huge backlog though... Grrrr! Someone say it's cr@p, please...

Yep it’s cra...nah can’t bring myself to say it I wouldn’t be able to sleep at night lol! Tbh it’s the best £30 I’ve spent (and that includes things like food and nappies for the kids!)!! But seriously if you have it spare then you most definitely won’t be disappointed.

This games a keeper for sure, I can see myself playing this for shits and giggles and it’ll be the new go to game to show off the vr headset. My brother and nephew are coming over to have a over the weekend and I’ll be surprised if I won’t have sold them a PS4, vr headset and this game by the end of it :)

I always have the money it's just the guilt of buying games and then others just left to become sad, unstarted orphans :)

Will be interesting to see how much replay value it has as well. Seems like there is DLC coming to it but more arcade modes and plus modes than anything story-wise.

I'll probably break around Saturday evening I think, lol

Yea same here, its definitely a keeper and for me its equally as enjoyable as any CoD campaign when they were actually good and at roughly 5 - 7 hours its as long but with it being VR you're fully immersed in it.

It has replay value too as once you complete levels you can go back and replay them individually to mop up collectibles and challenges whilst racking up a score so it would be interesting to maybe play with friends to see who can rack up the best scores.

Buy it now mate it's bloody incredible !

Finally got to start this tonight. First time I’ve played any VR for at least six or seven months.

Absolutely loving it so far.

I am seeing this game being advertised on the main commercial tv channels quite frequently this week. This is the first vr game ive seen advertised so prominently mainstream. Normally its the aaa games like COD, God of War to get that marketing scope. Im sure this will get a few more headsets sold.

Good effort, Sony Marketing team!

Much to my surprise, they acting and voice over has been decent, normally in these sort of games the dialogue is really cheesy and the acting awful.

Only played to the Casino so far but there are a few things that made me laugh too.

Notably
when you’ve got off the plane, you’re in the airport and there’s a guy (who turns out is your brother) holding one of those cards with your name on when they come to pick you up “Marks” then he turns it over and it says “****”
maybe it’s just my sense of humour or because I was t expecting it but that made me laugh :)

With all the lock picking and having to unscrew screws and stuff it did strike me as odd
when you’re chasing the guy and it says don’t kill him, he doesn’t exactly run very fast and it wouldn’t let me just shoot him in the leg to stop him
but then I suppose that would stop the story dead :D

Also in the first part of the casino, I found it odd at first when it wouldn’t let me move when and where I wanted. I suppose when it stops you moving one way it’s because you’ll get seen or something?

Oh, and I thought when you’re in the flat after the funeral, everyone else looked pretty short:laugh:

Note, these aren’t criticisms, just observations, it really is brilliant and it’s a real must have VR game.

Caved. Not back home till Sunday night, so ordered on Amazon for Monday delivery. Guess that's my Monday night written off! :D
May even break out my proper in ear headphones for the full experience.

I’m going to hold off until the big Sony sale in a week or so. Everybody’s Golf VR was in a sale after 2 weeks so could happen with this.
If not then I’ll download it anyway :)

Ha, I tried to shoot his legs too! But as you say, it's a scripted rail shooter, so we gotta abide with certain restrictions.

And yeah the family members do look short but they are all making eye contact with us so I guess our protagonist is the the tall guy in the family :)

Talking about eye contact, the facial animation and expressions are really superb as they lock their gaze on you.

Going to resume playing this tonight as my shoulder is improving. Hope I can manage an hour before it start hurting again. Can't wait!

Just had another hour on it, it just gets better :)

Trying to ration myself a bit so as not to finish it too quickly, but I can see this being one of the rare games that I’ll play more than once.

Arghh....game breaking bug, very frustrating. I am near the damn end (level 17 I think) but have a serious glitch which is preventing me from progressing. My gun is stuck in mid air off my chest and I cannot grab it. Quitting the mission and the game, then continuing still loads the bug, gun in air, can't grab, then die like a beech. Even if I go into the safe house, the gun is still sticking out of my chest. I got this "ghost gun" bug earlier in the game too but I was able to progress with another gun in the hand. So I think it could happen anywhere under certain conditions.

I need to report this but I don't know how to report to the developers.

Looks like I need to restart the whole damn game again which is a bummer.

Aside from the bug, the game is as awesome as it could possible be given the desperate limitations of the ancient Move controllers. But one thing I wish they implemented is giving us a body like in Firewall. Kinda breaks the immersion just having floating hands in a very realistic environment. Firewall, The Assembly and Unearthing Mars managed it so it's a shame same couldn't be done here. I don't think it would have been a performance compromise, I just think it was simply a low priority for them and I would agree but it would have been nice to have that body.

Another gripe is weapon upgrades, they don't often carry through into the game and the process is awkward.

I love...
the female villain really hamming it up and stealing the show with her "stand up" routine, lol. I sure love charismatic villains, she even looks like a Joker sibling!

sigh..now to start the game all over again...or maybe wait for a patch, I don't know.

Just when you think it’s great and it can’t get any better....it does!

Just escaped from the tower block and Falstead, man it’s just like being Lewis Collins in an 80’s action movie. I love it :D

I do find the assault rifles a bit awkward, I keep trying to grab the grip with my left hand and it puts the gun that hand. Other than that they’re great.

Well turns out I was actually on the penultimate chapter when I had that bug I described in my previous post but thankfully, after a complete restart, the bug disappeared and I could continue my Jason Statham (or Gooner's Lewis Colin's! ) badassery to finishing the game.

I have to admit, I was well disappointed that it finished as its clearly just a first act of a bigger story and a particularly charismatic antagonist hardly gets much screen time. But it was a brilliant, high octane, big grin inducing journey while it lasted.

But this is the norm for most VR games. We're still a niche market so it's understandable. And this knocks every other game out of the park for sheer presentation and gameplay badassery. Plus this game is given a greater marketing scope than any other VR game I've seen and with the hopefully positive reviews will sell bucket loads for a sequel to be in the works (not to mention more headsets). Fingers crossed, I absolutely want that sequel!

So it's not perfect. I mentioned a couple more shortfalls in my previous post but now I can add that the story is very run of the mill and as I said pretty much just a first act of some bigger story. Also, I would have like some puzzle solving challenges and even some more climbing and swinging challenges. The lock picking are all too easy and that's about all there is. Perhaps they could even add some fist fighting to the mix!

The soundtrack gets me well pumped up, very bombass. They need to release a soundtrack to it, I'd buy it.

I'll aim to platinum this one it seems pretty manageable in a relative short investment of time.

Aside from the small gripes, what an outstanding blockbuster VR game. Charismatic, confident, bombastic, a true VR role playing dream experience. For me it felt like being in a cross between Lock Stock and Two Smoking barrels, Hard Boiled (or any Jon Woo Hong Kong film), Transporter, and Uncharted.

Despite my little gripes, my personal overall rating for this is an unforgettable: 9/10

Highlights:

Penultimate Chapter:
catching the flight! Although Nathan Drake, Captain America and Toy Story's Woody have all done it in exactly the same fashion...it's something else to be actually doing it yourself in VR!

Middle:
The villainess taunting and head scratching texan monologuing was a strange but cynically funny WTF moment for me.

First time jumping out of a window.

Every slow-mo scene. While Gooner felt like Lewis Collins I felt like Chow Yun Fat :)

Ha, loved that series back then, ITV was rerunning it recently, in fact they have it on their demand:

The Professionals - The Madness of Mickey Hamilton

The Professionals is great. Not so much the remake :D

I wanna know why Who Dares Wins isn’t available on iTunes :)

Even though I’ve not finished it yet, I agree with everything you’ve said. This deserves to sell loads and hopefully loads of headsets too. It’s definitely a system seller for me.

Really hope we get a sequel or a least some quality dlc.
