I'm away on holiday and can see on camera my neighbors who have multiple cars have parked across my drive for their convenience. To me its one of the obvious signs we're away and I'm really pissed off and think its cheeky. We're not on taking terms due to me having parking issues with them. Does anyone think the police would enforce moving them even though I am away? I do have dropped kerbs.

...… but you can call up your local council and get them to issue a parking ticket for obstructing a footway crossing, I believe.

What do you mean a footway crossing?

It's another name for a dropped kerb, to allow access for vehicles across a footway (path/pavement) from a public highway to a private residence or business premises.

    More detailed info here...……………….

Dropped Kerb Parking Laws – Driving Test Tips

You can call up your Local Authority and they *should* send an enforcement officer round to ticket the vehicles causing an obstruction. I've read about it but never had need to carry out such actions myself (yet)!

You aren't allowed to block a car in, so if you have a garage the council should tow the vehicle

I don't need to be on talking terms with such selfish people. They had their tyres slashed by some neighbors over the road couple years back for similar.

Why is it an obvious sign you are on holiday?
Surely a criminal won’t know who the car belongs to.
It could be your your car, or family members, or a visitor to your house.
As long as they don’t do it when you are home then don’t worry, just enjoy your holiday.

Problem is if you upset them whilst you're away you have no way of protecting your home, should they want to retaliate.

Can’t make my mind up if this should be in the “joke thread” or the “irrational annoyance thread”. :rotfl:

@Westindieman is your car on the drive?, or do you have a garage? If the answer to both is no, they will do nothing.

Even if the answer to both was yes, I doubt they would do anything. They are away on holiday!

There is obviously history here with this neighbour which is why it is an issue.

But really you should be enjoying your holiday and not getting yourself worked up over something that you can't do anything about.

Why not lock this thread and force him to enjoy his holiday? Or better yet @Westindieman, you come home from wherever you are and deal with your neighbours and I'll take your place in the sun! :)

It's not going to be fun for him when he returns home a 4am in the pissing rain and finds the neighbour's cars blocking his drive, so he can't unload is it?

It might not be there in a weeks? time, so why worry about it until it's time to go home?

My neighbours over the road have quite the collection and use the street like a taxi rank, frustrating for sure.

Personally in the OP situation I’d cross my fingers that they remain parked across my driveway and then take pleasure in ringing their doorbell and knocking on their door at 3am telling them to move it as I need to get my vehicle out.

Personally I think life’s to short to waste any of it worrying about trivial things, much as I love AVF if I’m away in the sun I won’t be checking in here for sure and I for sure won’t be worried about parking issues, I as I’m sure many have had bad neighbor issues but that’s part of going away and relaxing and forgetting about it all!!

OP have a great holiday and worry about them when you are back!

Offer another neighbour use of your drive to store a car whilst you're away, and if that's blocked in then it becomes an issue (they were just checking the post/curtains/cats as you'd requested they do).

There’s more to life than getting stressed about small things like this, I know it’s annoying, happens all the time where I live, developers build houses with 1 parking space, and on average houses have 2 or 3 cars, I’m lucky as for some reason my house as 3 spaces and we only have 1 car, always a random car on the 2 spare spaces, I can either get upset and let it stress me out, or just ignore it and let it go ( who else started singing the frozen theme tune then )

Mind if I am in a bad mood I park my car across the car on my drives and go for a run, inconvenience them for an hour or do ;)

    Enjoy your holiday :)
