My Review.
Initially, like in the first few minutes, there was nothing really impressive about the game visually. In fact the only thing that made me choose against switching the console was the rumble feature which is enabled once you start firing your machine guns. A few seconds after getting in the air, and i have to say the method in where you have to rotate the RS stick is impressive, you notice that you have the ability to go faster. It's kinda dissapointing to admit that there is really no sense of speed however, only blurred motions surrounding the corners of the screen remind that you are going "faster" although judging from how quickly you pass the environment your speed hasn't changed at all.
That's the training. I was also dissapointed with the fact there is no Zoom feature for the player when homing into a target, often meaning the player is only shooting at a red line (symbolising the enemy). When you get the chance to actually see the enemy craft, they go pass you very quickly - meaning there is again a dissapointment in the visual department as you can't really maintain a sight of the enemy craft - mainly a red line.
The following mission sees you defend a military airbase/airport in which about 12 bombers escorted, and you find this out later to my horror, with about three squadrons of assault enemy craft. Again, the visual department lacks especially on the waterscene as this base you defend is surrounded by the sea. After managing to battle your way to find a target and then reach it, your sent to bomb enemy ships. Very easy. As your plane is riding the sky, there is oval-shaped target which seems like its being beamed from the bottom of the plane to the surface. Once this oval shaped target is over the ship, you push the RS stick down and away the bombs go. Nice explosion affects but again, nothing to raise eyebrows.
Then the masterpiece, atleast compared to the previous surroundings. London. Objective, protect Parliament Buildings from the rather cocky Germans (and yes, you get to here them..unfortunately football isn't mentioned, nor is hairy armpits - the craze of German women so I hear). Anyway, i've been dismissing or downgrading the visuals of the game so far, but the beautiful sunset scorched sky takes your eyes off the target only to stare at the clouds - often making me crash into blocks, which i then realised were meant to be buildings. The River Thames is best represented aswell, ugly to look at it. But the enemy AI is tripled on this level. Three squadrons of enemy bombers followed by two squadrons of enemy fighters totally take up the view of the sky. Not being able to stare at the beautiful lighting, i made my way clearing it. One by one, they fell uttering the same repetitive nonsense about how I fly as well as I fight. I should think so after i've fed them a few hundred bullets! Ra-ra, ra-ra! lol
Overal conclusion: The experience of feeling the aggressive rumbling at every disposal of the thousands of bullets is unforgettable. The sight of seeing your hardwork (in finding and reaching) expressed in fireballs is satisfying to say the least but some of the visuals, especially in the daylight of the training mission and the lighting of the water is not what we expected from the 2nd wave of 360 games. Also, some tearing and no AA is aparent. However, i might buy it just for the Multiplayer on Live which will be fantastic IMO.
