How long have you left it switched on? Some units can take quite a while to get their first fix.

Can your unit report is it's actually tracking the sats rather than just being able to see them. Are the maps you have installed actually viewable?

Do you think it needs a speedo pulse cable fitted ?
It just shows an arrow ? no roads or information
Is a cable easy to fit on a volvo v70 ?
    thanks

I installed a Blaupunkt DX-R52 in my MX5 last week and it did the same. I had to connect the speedo pulse so that it would go through the calibration, until then all it did was show the direction arrow (random wrong direction) and say that I was 'off road', once connected I had to go about 20 yards at less than 19mph (I think that just checked for a pulse) and then drive normally for about 6 miles to complete the calibration. It works great now though apat from not being able to load a safety camera poi like my garmin i3.
