Blast Shield - Broken Or Just Totally Useless

Think this has to be the biggest waste of time in the game.

It does not even work!

Firstly if this helps with explosions the help it provides is minuscule.

The problem is that using it leaves you to a false sense of security; you see the grenade warning when trying to cap a flag / HQ and think its ok I have Blash Shield on so will be ok - wrong every time.

The next thing I was curious of is if it helped with Dead Man's Hand.

I was in between a meter to two away from the guy (COD distances) with Blast Shield on and did it protect me from the C4 suicide. Take a guess.

So I switched it to a specialist setup and just had it there for a while just to get Pro unlocked as the pro perk of rendering flashes useless seemed very good.

I get it and surprise, it does not even protect against flashes either!

What happens is you still get flashed but as opposed to be totally blinded, you are only 80-90% blinded by them (and believe me 90% blinded is not something to say 'great that will be useful').

So in slot 2 we have a choice of Assassin - everyone's opinion the strongest perk in the game, Hardline which is great for getting in KS. QuickDraw which is very useful in 1v1s and Sniping. And the pro means you are not left in the open when using equipment.

Or Blast shieldl; a perk that increases your blast protection by a minuscule amount, and increases your flash protection by a minuscule amount too.

Is this the most useless addition to the game or is it just broken?

It shortens the duration of the flash anth. Not minimizes its affects iirc. And it doesn't make you invincible from explosions. Just makes it hurt less. So if a nade lands right on you it will still kill you. C4 has a massive explosive radius too and much more powerful than a semtex.

I do agree that it is less useful than flak jacket tho.

NOTHING can protect you from dead mans hand , its like a nuke going off

Grrrr done me on 23 with specialist on. I was peeved for ages. Dead mans hand is the worst thing in the game (but then I do think the game is awesome!!!).

Blash Shield! Now that would be a perk!! Youd make a fortune selling them at festivals!

Broken like Flashes are broken. Im fedup of being flashed, can't see squat, and yet they can see fine. I've gotten into the habbit of watching kill cam; last night was a corker when i hit him with one direct hit, then threw and hit him again, got multi hit markers, ran out an and he shot me clear as day. He had SOH, QD, MM. On replay, he got flashed and it lasted 1 second, then the second flash also lasted one second. I give up. I wonder if my flashes are more of a 'Hey Im here'.

And yes anth; shield seems naff. Used it on the jug many times and it doesn't like nades. It does a good job of deflecting bullets; but some seem to go through it like butter; Im curious if that many people really use deep impact proficiency.

Deep impact is the muts nuts on the ACR. You don't really need the Kick proficency as it is quite stable with out it.

Which guns actually benefit from the kick proficiency?

The only AR gun I can think of that maybe needs it is the AK47. And maybe one or two LMG's. Other than that it seems a waste. Or am I missing something about its benefits?

Not just me then. When I get flashed it seems like a good five seconds. I flash them and I get smoked

Other then the type 95 and M16 I have to have kick on all my ARs. Im certain that its purely a psychological thing but my shooting just goes to pot if I dont have it on.

Pretty much the same apart from with my beloved ACR.

Yeah i agree, blast shield pro is ****. Flak jacket and tac mask pro was sooooo much better and i was expecting bsp to be the same as them, how wrong was i.

A semtex killed me on 22 even though it was no where near me. Very annoying:mad:

Maybe its just because i didn't play black ops that much but blast shield seems to work pretty well for me although i never use it anyway except when I get specialist bonus.

it protected me a couple of times yesterday from the nuke that is dead mans hand...

The way I look at it Blast Shield shouldn't make you immune to explosives that would be way to overpowered.

If it did make you immune playing something like HQ/Team Defender with a riot shield as well would make you pretty much invincible if you had your back to a wall.

As it stands explosives detonated close to you cause damage and sometimes death, that's fair and balanced imo.

If you want a perk that renders all explosives useless I want a perk that turns bullets fired at me into kinder eggs

Flak Jacket on Black Ops was perfect. All first explosions would be negated but everything after that depended on how F'd up you got on prior explosions.

I thought the grenades were s**t in this game anyway? Pretty sure most have to land pretty much on top of you before they killed you?

This. Especially with Frags. Much like mw2 semtex is superior. Black ops made it the opposite. I would honestly prefer the Frags be stronger since they roll and have to be cooked a majority of the time.

Tho they can't because of martyrdom.

Nades and semtex are weak as in MW3, that's why I think running blast shield is pretty much pointless. C4 is still the daddy in my eyes it seems to have a bigger blast radius but you rarely come across people using it apart from the odd game of dom

That's the only way I can kill people with grenades is martyrdom!! I can bounce one off someone's head and still don't get them with the blast haha

According to the official Brady guide Blast shield pro reduces explosive damage by 45% and flash and stun time by 50%

As a granade will do 130 max damage these figures suggest even a direct hit should be survivable with BS.

Either the figures in the guide are all wrong or Blast shield doesnt work the way it was intended.

A semtex killing a jug straight up is a crock. An 18pt (or 15) streak killed with one well placed grenade... lamers.

We should tweet bomb FourZeroTwo with how useless Blast Shield is.

I agree, if it did what it suggests; makes you immune to explosions and the pro makes you immune to flashes and stuns it would be a very worthy perk to select and one that may make people go from Assassin.

At the moment its a waste of time as it does effectively nothing.

And the challenge to survive near explosions. Does anyone have any tips on doing this as I have tried shooting barrels from a reasonable distance and still get blown to smitherines. Same goes with Bouncing Betties.
