i`ve got bladrunner R2 and think the picture is pretty poor considering .

is R1 as bad? - does anyone have any new info on a special edition? - did a search that turned up very old posts saying SE coming soon......

cheers (sorry if this question has been asked to death btw!)

R1 and R2 are pretty much the same. The "poor quality" is because the source material wasn't great - they are currently polishing the print for a Bladerunner special edition!

i guessed as much! - cheers for the info.

on my copy the left and right edges of the screen are "squggly"

i think that is from a poor transfer, rather than bad film?

The picture doesn't go all the way to the left/right edge as you can see by the screenshot I took with power DVD, which is due to poor transfer, most DVD's dont have such big black borders on the left/right of the picture - they should have zoomed in more when doing the transfer. Most TV's have their overscan set so you can't see the edges but your TV must be adjusted so so you can see most of the edges, which is not a bad thing because it means you see parts of the film that most people miss. On my TV the overscan is about 1 inch around the whole picture, and I cant see the black borders on the left/right of bladerunner.

i use hcpc with dlp pj - very rarely watch dvds on my tv, and use tvtool if i do which enables overscan, probably fixing the edge problem!

heres a screenshot (using windvd - power dvd seems to "pixelise" occasionally on fast moving scenes using an athlon 850 so shouldnt)

well, it was a dark film:D

i downloaded it to my pc and it worked! - must be something to do with using print screen on overlays - i pasted into psp and then cropped and saved! - no other way to post pic, but its not too important so i`ll leave it....
