There is indeed a special edition in the works, Ridley Scott himself said that it would contain the original version, the director's cut, and a new special edition version... I don't have any news beyond that unfortunately... Should be worth waiting for ;)

That's probably true, but I don't care when it comes to Blade Runner - I would buy 50 different versions if they released them!

I have not bought the dvd of Blade Runner yet so after reading these posts, I think I will wait for this forthcoming release!

If I can add my 2 cents here on the film, I still prefer the studio cut. I loved the private eye feel with the narration and missed it lots in the director's cut.

Totally agree Chris, I missed the old style feel of the private dick railing against a 'new' age of repression and sanction. Who, acted as host and brought the viewer along for the ride in an enjoyable and informative manner. Unlike the piece of crap American Psycho II that a 'friend' gave me to view - it's like Dawn from Buffy narrating in that whiny voice you'd like to hang up on your kitchen wall:mad:

... no doubt lots of people bought this DVD as it is a real classic movie but have you ever seen the conical pile of steaming sh!t that the DVD is (non anamorphic & Dolby Pro Logic for christsake!)
I was given it as a present & traded it after one viewing - bring on the Special Edition DVD I say ...
    Paul ;)
