Blacks on PW7

    just a quick qouestion, i find black colours on my pw7 are pretty poor, is this down to the screen or dvd player? im using a denon 1910 and they are really crap, like the sceen in the cave in hide and seek its really rubish, will they improve if i buy a better dvd player?

    first of all, try calibrating the screen with a THX certified DVD, most of them contain "thx optimizer". this should help you improve the whole picture including black levels. If theyre still poor, buy a calibration DVD like Digital Video Essentials (DVE) or Avia, they will let you calibrate your screen better. Ideally, you should get it ISF calibrated by a proffesional (there are a couple on this forum). That will improve PQ by miles and miles.

    im using silver reference components, ill give that DVE a try
