    Sheridan Smith
stars in this three-part drama as Leeds police constable Jo Gillespie, who is devastated when her husband, undercover officer Ryan (Kenny Doughty), is killed in suspicious circumstances.
As she battles to stay strong for the benefit of daughter Melly (Honor Kneafsey) and stepson Hal (Oliver Woollford), Jo is urged by her bosses, DCI Will Hepburn (Douglas Henshall) and Chief Constable Carolyn Jarecki (Geraldine James), to leave it to her fellow officers to find the killer.

They used to give gongs out after a wealth of experience and years of service to something, they now give them out based on flavour of the month celebrity status especially if you've just won a prize in your own profession.

Look at sport ... dames and knights in their 30s, whereas it took decades before any of the 1966 England football squad were rewarded in the same manner, if at all.

    Sory for
Seems so as Chris said on Peter's OBE, Too Little Too Late, Chris only got knighted when he was 87 for his drama and charity work.

Has been on demand at Sky since Friday (through Top Picks)

Okay, but the pacing of this first ep is pretty slow, such that what happens is pretty much exactly what is says it on the blurb/epg and nothing else. Basically ... bad event takes place, boo hoo hoo, and then it's "Next time ..."

^^^ But what more did you really get from the opening episode, that wasn't in your opening post? :)

Perhaps we were given too many spoilers in advance.

^^^Well I didn't know about the contents of the Jiffy bag and what happened at the end of the episode

Your implying if you know some plot details in advance you cannot enjoy something. So all the people who rewatch their favourite films are wasting their time

What happened to her husband is the central plot that the show is built around, hopefully the end result won't be a cop-out (no pun intended, or is it) like Safe House

The jiffy bag and ending weren't much really - just way too much establishing and rather little story or character development of anyone including the lead (The Interceptor managed it better in its opening episode, but it was still sh*t :)). With all that focus, including loads of close-ups, on Sheridan's character I still felt little sympathy.

Anyway, not one of Sheridan's best choices imho. As recent TV cop dramas/thrillers go this is one of the poor ones. Hope they can pull something out of the bag, but the style and pace so far leave me with low expectations.

Much improved second ep, with actual plot and intrigue. Should have been a tight two-parter. Still over the top with the Sheridan close-ups.
