My Hitachi GD7500 is playing up, time for a new drive. I quite fancy a black Pioneer 106s. I know www.overclockers.co.uk sell them but they don't have any in stock. Anyone know of an alternative supplier?

    Thanks,

    Jeff

Sorry, mine is beige! It's really classy!

I know you can paint them, I've seen the threads but couldn't point you to it. I beleive the front comes off and is easy to spay with Plasti-coat is it?

They're nice drives, but pretty noisy without the DVD-Rom utility to quieten it down. This utility also allows you to update the firmware from Windows which is pretty handy!

Not checked whether they have the black version (got a beige one recently), but try ccl computers

£50 for slot or £45 for tray model.

    Cheers

It's on a pioneer site, I just did a search for PIONEER DVD ROM UTIULITY.

It's probably mentioned in a thread on this forum. If you see alink for the Firmware upgrade then that site links to the DVD-Rom utility!

Sorry I can't give the exact address, I only have it at home and I'm at work!

Hmmm, spray painting fascias with Plasti-Kote BBQ spray paint, I remember reading something about that. :)

Actually it works very well and my existing Hitachi drive is still as black as the day I sprayed it.

I just thought that I would go for the real thing this time.

    Thanks anyway, I'll keep looking.
