Hello, I have been looking to replace my Sony 28" Widescreen (Black) but everything seems to be Silver !

Just a quick poll. If you had the choice (not what you have) what colour TV / Hi Fi components would you buy ?

I would like black as I remember the old days (and now) when everything was silver.

Definitely black. Silver is unfortunately the in thing with manufacturers now and it makes some things impossible to get without a cheapy silver finish (eg. all the £50-100 DVD players in supermarkets).

I think Hi-Fi equipment is to be listened to not looked at. Also silver TV’s are more noticeable, that’s why the surrounds to the screen at the pictures are black and non reflective.

I wanted the Sony DAB etc tuner but it was not in black so I will not be getting one. The only thing in my system that is not black is the record deck which I think is teak.

Personally I cannot even begin to get my head around the idea that what a piece of audio equipment looks like is more important than the sound it produces.

Forget silver or black - A friend of mine just picked up a 32 inch tv in a blue leather finish !!!!!! Havent seen it yet but I told him he was nuts. He reckons he picked it up on a special deal.

Prefer a dark silver finish myself (like on the old panny tv's, tag processor etc). If a product wasnt available in silver it wouldnt stop me from buying it though.

I've got a mixture of black & gold.
When buying my CD73t I had the option of black or silver. As nothing else I had was silver, but had a few black units I went for black.
Although I do think that NAD does look better in silver!
But I have to agree, if I liked the sound of a unit and it was in the 'wrong' colour only it would not stop me from buying it.

    Mark.

Prefer Black TV's they are more discreet, but my wife will not have any more black HiFi? Don’t know why, but it recently scuppered my plans of buying a CD63 Ki Sig from E-bay for just over £100 (and local), I was just about to put in a last minute bid when she realised it was black. I will just have to but a CD73 or Rotel CD02 now :D

I just picked up a CD73 myself (waiting for it to be delivered) - the arcam silver is a bit too light for me but I had no choice in the matter as it was second hand.

Started out black - then the silver WS telly came then Sky + then the 656 by then it was obviouis to me that the only way forward was to go silver. Hitachi plasma kind of settled the debate and now even Denon have caved in to go silver (sorry "Platinum" I was told by the Denon CS rep)

I like black because the components dissappear in the unit - yes they are not for looking at, so black does the trick. Silver componets would distract the eye from the main event, though I can't deny that as objects silver components look cool. (have a silver TV, but thats not a problem)

Black usually blends better with the decor, also silvers vary more, still my TV is grey, they didn´t have a black version, now they do...

My Pio 565 is silver but the rest of my kit is black. To be honest I don't really care that much as all my stuff is in a cupboard out of sight.

I wouldn't buy gold or Leowe Arctic white.

disco disco disco ...disco solid gold baby :rotfl:

I prefer black - much more discreet - my stuff is in my eye line and silver will attact my eye to them too much.

The bottom line is, it is good to have a choice. AV systems are either Silver Gold or Black.
When my neighbour told me that he bought a new burgundy B&O TV I was shocked thinking burgundy TV?
untill I went round to see it and I must say it blends with his furniture and it looks really nice.
