Black or Grey manual screen recommendation

Hi All,

I am looking to get a projector screen for my living room which naturally has a lot of ambient light. I would like to get a black or grey manual screen - 250cm x 150cm.

It seems impossible to find a manual grey or pull down screen so can someone please help me:

  • Do you know where I can get one
  • Would it work if i just paint a white screen to grey or black
  • How have you overcome a similar problem.

I spent hours with no luck. Sapphire said they can custom make a manual pull down in grey fabric for £699 but i am looking for other options.

Many thanks

I’ve been projecting onto a grey wall and these are my results and this is from white ceiling and same light grey walls (dulux shadow chic) and get excellent results.

What is the reason you would prefer to go for a manual pull down screen instead of an electric one?

The reason I ask is the very reason why you have started a thread.... they are very hard to come by in manual form. It's a shame you couldn't go for a fixed frame screen option as this would save you buckets.

Thank you so much for the response. The reason why I cant have electric is because i dont have a socket anywhere near the screen (nearest plug is like 4 / 5 meters). There seems to be a huge hole in the market indeed, no idea why. But at least Sapphire said they can custom make one, but there has not be few other options....

Is it being mounted on to an outside wall or is there a room behind the screen and if there is would there be a plug socket on that wall. It's not a big job for an electrician to put a plug socket on the other side of an existing socket, I've had it done many a time.

What about the fixed frame option or is that a non starter?
