Black Ops trophy help thread

For those trophy whores amongst you, i thought I'd start this thread for peoples tips etc on getting to that elusive platinum trophy. So far I have completed Veteran campaign and got all the Intel and only need about 6 trophies for platinum.

The veteran campaign is very tough in parts on S.O.G and executive decision which are quite early on, but if you can get through them you should be home and dry. Look at Video Game Campaign Guides, Trophy/Achievement Guides, and an Extensive Compilation of Multiplayer Strategies as they have veteran walkthroughs and guides to all the Intel and trophies if you are stuck or share what worked best for you on here.

I've got most of the trophies now (around 75% I think) - some of them are really easy or you just achieve them by accident. For me, the zombie trophies are almost impossible so I doubt I'll ever get the platinum.

I'm about half way through the veteran campaign at the moment. There's a few tough places but IMO nowhere near as annoying/frustrating as WAW.

Next gen have done the see me, kill me, heal me trophy which I think must be the hidden one. You have to pack-a-punch a ballistic knife and get a team mate to die and you revive him by firing the knife at him. They did it on level 9 I think. It seems they are doable it's just a bit of luck if you get the ballistic knife and crossbow early on from the box.

I agree about world of war being harder, mainly due to the nade spamming. However I got my platinum on that before the zombie map packs when they added trophies for that. So I have platinum but am only 76% complete!

The trophies don't show up on the PSN website which is a bit worrying.

Takes a couple days to sync up if I recall correctly.

I managed the one on DOA - speed boost through 20 zombies. On the first level dont shoot them but run around getting them to follow you. When you have a large group behind turn around & speed boost. Took a few attempts but worked in the end :smashin:

I think I did that one on launch night :p

The difficult ones are pack a punch (two of them), kill the Pentagon thief, and buy every gun off the wall.

Black Ops doesn't appear on the list at all (though I think the Trophy count is correct, it just doesn't display any of the Black Ops ones). I think MW2 had the same problem to begin with so maybe it's a PSN thing.

EDIT: it's completely messed up at the moment, I just had a quick look and all it says is...

"You do not currently have any trophies in your list. You must use your PLAYSTATION® 3 console to add trophies. "

(but I'm at level 9 with 517 trophies - duh!)

Think this is all I have left now, other than the intel which shouldn't take me long tonight. Hopefully should be able to get zombie ones pretty soon to finish them off, before GT5 comes out :D.

Well :p then lol

I imagine the one pack a punch one (shoot a team mate, or get shot by a team mate, with the pap'd crossbow & kill 6 zombies) would be fairly easy to do. Just a question of when the box decides to play ball. Can't remember what the other one is.

Buying all guns off the walls I dont think will be too difficult either - when in a team game & the one zombie is being kept occupied could go & buy like 2 different guns each round - the difficult part at the moment is knowing where they are

I managed to kill the pentagon thief on my second game on that map - before I knew what the hell was going on (not that I'm much the wiser now) & knew it was one of the trophies :rotfl:

Is there lots of difference between Veteren and Hardened? I'm doing OK on Hardened and thinking if not much in it might just start again on Veteren.

Second one is to revive another player with a pap'ed ballistic knife from a distance.

Yep, and opening the whole map up, and having enough money left to buy them all... I think I need to practice a lot more! :D

I completed the game on veteran last night so I've got the 92% - there's only a few tricky sections that took a bit longer than usual to complete, most of it was okay. It's nowhere near as annoying and frustrating as WAW.

Well I attempted the crossbow one with Marky & Goldie last night. May be more difficult than I thought, came to the conclusion that this would need to be done on as early a round as possible, or when insta-kill is active.

Oooo so the pap'd ballistic knife turns into a "revive you" jobbie, that's cool. In that case it should be easy to get then - in the round intermission where one zombie is being kept occupied one of your team kills themselves with a grenade & you revive - simples :smashin:

Video below of me getting the hands off the merchandise trophy which may help some of you, and also getting the Eminem and Pink "won't back down" easter egg, although not a trophy it's a bit of fun.

YouTube - Black Ops Eminem easter egg and Hands off the Merchandise trophy

I've tried this a couple of times but still no luck with getting the trophy (I'm still getting up to speed on the Zombie games as I didn't play it much on WAW). Either I'd do something stupid and lose the revive, or one of the tougher zombies would spawn when I got to the lower levels.

You need to keep a slow zombie and he will come through a window when you go down in the elevator. I had to try this a few times because the thief doesn't always spawn at that round it might be the next so you have to try and survive until he appears. You know when he will appear because the woman says their is a security breach. Notice I cook the grenade before he appears because I hear the warning.

Ok I need some volunteers to help me get the collector trophy, which is buying up every weapon on the walls in Zombies. You need 13,500 points to purchase everything so am looking for donations to open up the doors for me :D should be able to do it in under 10 levels that way, and of course I will return the favour. If we can get 4 of us interested we can play over to get the trophy for all 4, will probably be able to do 2 people each game?

Has anybody managed to get the collector trophy in any of the old maps? Goldie made a very good suggestion of trying it on the very first zombie map, just wondering if anybody else has tried this & can say it it works or not

Must warn you though - I've not played zombies yet (5 missions left on my Veteran playthrough) so may take a game or two to learn where the doors and weapons are. I'm definitly keen to get this trophy though so if you can put-up with me taking a couple of games to get into the swing of it then count me in

I haven't yet but this is what I was planning on doing, did read on another forum that it is possible as the maps have been updated with new weapons.

I assume everyone in the session need to have download the map pack from the store to be able to play the new packs? Thinking they might need to, the download was over 1GB, otherwise the map would exist on the other persons PS3. Reason I ask is that I read, all players could play on five even if not unlocked it/finished the SP campagin; I know it slightly different to the map pack as five exists on everyone system/disk from day 1. Failing this, I thought about trying it on the older maps split screen with two people.

Def up for this, drop me a Friends Request if I haven't added you.

You should play single player a few times to orient yourself.

No sense in asking guys who've invested numerous hours into it already to get you up to speed with where doors/power/etc are.

No offense.

No offense taken :)

I would expect to try a few on my own first anyway, just saying that if they're ready to go now and only have 3 then I'm willing (keen in fact) to make up the numbers. I was just making my lack of experience clear to be fair to everyone. And anyway, after completing Executive Orders on Veteran, how hard can a few pesky zombies be?

It's supposed to be easier on the first map but I haven't got that one :( do it on KDT as I know where everything is.

You could always wait till it gets released as DLC... which it is highly probable it will be since Activision likes money, especially when it's for stuff they hardly have to invest any time in.
