Ah seamless branching, causing headaches for two decades
Apocalypse Now soon too!
Does your colleague remember the bit where a load of Somalians corner and brick to death some Pakistani peace keeping troops, that's not in the film BTW??
No problems here on playback,Panasonic 9000,US disc
Xbox one x by any chance?
they also ambushed 24 Pakistani peacekeepers and skinned them alive.
No idea why, but this is the quality of some of the images, showing heavy grain ? I took this image from about 3ft away but its visible as far as 8ft away.
I have not had this issue before when watching 4K films, any thoughts ?
Yep. That's the film.
Have had a reply from Oliver at OPPO UK Support and these are the findings so far
just heard and read that this may strangely be an issue with the extended version only and apparently it happens with a number of players including Panasonic and Sony.
So if we do not have a firmware fix for this there may instead be a new disc instead.
Every 4K title is different so depending on how it was shot it could be crystal clear or it could be very grainy but this is true to the source and that is what we want, we don't want a repeat of the 'DNR grainy titles to death' days which resulted in some terrible releases.
Thanks for the information.
Agree that we want it true to the source, but it's just a shame that it's so bad when the rest of the images are outstanding.
Clearly I just panicked and thought my Oled might be playing up
The movie is good, also the review. Thanks
P.S. I dont want to offend anybody but all those movies and heroes are reminding me of government pgames of Goods, sending people to die somewhere or kill someone. Yes they are heroes, but for who's freedom they ware send there for ?! ..Just... Never mind Good review
Looks like a mixed batch as people over on Blu-Ray.com are having issues also: Black Hawk Down 4K UHD (2001) - Page 61 - Blu-ray Forum
Yes exactly that.
Had exactly the same problems myself.
Watched the theatrical version last night on my UB900 with no problems to report.
Phenomenon disc 10/10
I have sent a support request to Zoom - let's see what they say ....
No audio issues on my copy but the picture freezes for a split second around the 49 minute mark, a graphic flashes up showing where you are in the story and then playback resumes.
My Pioneer is on the current firmware.
I’m going to watch this later on my 203 and will look out for it.
Wary of updates as the last time I did it my player developed a green banding issue.
I ordered my copy from amazon, can’t say I experienced any sync issues watching the extended cut .
Reminded me of what a complete tour de force of a movie it is, quite spectacular in 4k.
Wholeheartedly agree with Cas though if i’m permitted one observation it’s that I don’t consider it to be Ridley Scott’s last great movie. For me that would be kingdom of heaven, the directors cut and not that aberration of a theatrical release. Now that’s one movie i’d Like to see given the 4k treatment.
Zoom issued a return and have dispatched a replacement disc, without any question so must be a known bad batch.
Gonna do the same because I just watched the extended cut and noticed three small audio drop outs. Outstanding PQ and AQ otherwise.
Emailed Zoom and they have asked me do I want a replacement/refund. Asked for replacement. Ive had to ask them if they want the disc or the whole thing back though.
EDIT - they want the whole thing back so sending it obviously. Just hope the replacement is better.
did they pay for the postage? Also, have you had the replacement back yet?
Yes, they send you a freepost RMA label to send the whole UHD back. I sent mine and a replacement was dispatched - unfortunately I am still waiting for it to arrive - 7 days (I have to wait 10 business days before they will declare it lost in mail).......
I sent mine but a replacement arrived before I sent it! So something wrong there - I'd get in touch pronto.
Received mine yesterday and watched the extended cut all the way through with no issues at all, audio or otherwise.
Got my replacement, checked it and...its fine now! So well done to Zoom.
I have a spare pretty much mint slipcover if anyone is desperate down the line. I think all copies so far would have it already though.
Watched or attempted to watch my extended copy last night , 3 audio dropouts around the 35 - 45 min area and a total loss of audio at 1hr 18 mins.
Contacted zoom for replacement , check your discs lads seems to be a lot of reports with this 4K disc on the extended cut of the film.
Total loss of audio? I didn't get that! But the replacement is definitely OK.
Sending me new copy out today mate , must be a bad batch pal.
