I’m in the same boat. Trying to decide between X500 and X700. Can live without Dolby Vision, but not sure about the lack of wi-fi. I’ve heard everything else performs the same as the X700 though, which is great news!

Not sure if this qualifies as a bargain or not, but thought I'd pass it on just in case anyone is looking for a universal player with better build quality but can't afford a high end Panasonic, Pioneer or Sony.

Just ordered a Multi Region Sony UBP-X800 UHD player from TPS (The Perfect Signal) for £349, which also included a free Premium Certified HDMI cable and a copy of "Spiderman: Homecoming" UHD. Also comes with a 3 year warranty.

    Delivery due Tuesday.:)

I ordered it for collection at my local Waitrose, I collect it after 2pm tomorrow but we're out in the evening so I won't get a chance to try it until early next week.

Also a big thank you for everyone who took the time to share thoughts and finds on here, it is appreciated and I hope I haven't missed anyone with the like click.

Tried my first Bluray 4k disk tonight (Solo), I wasn't over impressed, I've a feeling I haven't set something up quite right in the settings, I am going to need to read up more on the Sony 700 and see if I need to change anything

With the film, the player or both?;)

My X800 is due today. I'm looking forward to trying it out but not wiring it up. And I'm dreading yet another settings menu that I don't understand.:(

    Sorted I think....

I ran an update on Sunday morning when I picked the player up, I played Solo yesterday (Monday) evening and it just wasn't special. I'd been into settings and wondered why I couldn't see HDR or Dolby Vision, just Auto and 560 and 1080i and 1080p so I didn't touch anything, I left it on Auto.

Whilst playing around and looking at the apps yesterday a box popped up saying some Sony Products require authorization, go to account.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com/register I assumed it was something I had clicked on by mistake so exited.

Late last night someone pointed out I should see HDR and Dolby Vision in the settings, I knew it wasn't there yesterday so thought I'd run another update when I got home today.

I turned the player on and the box popped up again telling me to register the product by entering a 5 digit code. I did so and when I returned to the screen and went into settings I could now see HDR and Dolby Vision as an option.

I know it wasn't there yesterday so the player either updated overnight or it was something to do with not registering the product, the whole menu syetem and apps thing look a little dated and clunky, if it wasn't for the DV I'd be sending it back but I really don't want to be spending over £200 for a 4K player
