    Hi folks

    My widescreen TV still has a single black bar on 1.85:1 widescreen material (just an under an inch high at the bottom). Should this be there, or should it fill the screen completely.

    Those warner 16:9 enhanced ones do fill the screen completely though?

    thanks

    1.85:1 is film aspect ratio;
    widescreen TVs are 16:9 = 1:78:1.
    So, 1.85 material should have bars on it,
    tom and bottom. It usually doesn't, because
    TVs overscan (don't show the whole image).
    Overscan is also usually different in different
    directions, so zooming in on 1.85 material
    can expose it, depending on how the zoom
    works.

    You don't zoom them, and there is enough
    overscan. The strange thing is that you
    mention just warner titles - others don't?

    Is the title that shows the black bar, anamorphic or non-anamorphic?

    If it is non-anamorphic, i am guessing that your tv is in the auto guess, stretch and crop mode for this type of viewing and not the correct zoom mode.

    Although, a correctly set up television, should have very slight black bars with 1.85:1.
