Ok, I'm probably off down a well worn path here.....but after much reading I'm still no further forward. I know this is a quandry for a few folk.

    EPOS M SUB £247
EPOS ELS SUB SUBWOOFER - £197
    MISSION E3ASR £200
    BK Gemini £200

It's down to these 4 - and the M is out as cherry is unavail.
Competion is gone (No extra budget for XLS200 etc etc)
It's down to these 3.I've not got a massive lounge so all three will be more than enuff.

And there's the problem - I really cannot decide. My 'Hearts' with the Gemini, but my 'Head' says EPOS (Simply due to these being in excess of £400.....

In terms of pref - I'm looking for as much low down thunder as possible on this budget. like Tom Jones on full orgasm...

I also hate my neighbour and his tin-pot ching-ching Akai playing bad techno at 2am every Saturday. So Whats going to shake his walls? (Or I am asking too much?)
Its a Simple Onky605 set-up with QA and MS all-round.

    Much thanks in advance

Don't think there's much difference performance wise between the two EPOS subs. The M is down firing and real wood veneer and the ELS is forward firing with vinyl veneer but spec of amp & driver seems similar. I got an M-sub for my sister purely because she has cats & children so front firing ELS with grille would get knackered.

for £200 then the Epos is probably your best bet and you'd need to move to the BK XLS300 to beat it.

therefore would the £195 epos beat the £291 Bk xs200. you also have the Mission E3ASR which has an rrp of £550 yet can be had for £195, so many choices

thats the question i would like answered.

if the epos is better sub i would get that one.

i currently have the aego t system which i am selling as the sub broke. i have purchased the tannoy F4 floorstanders and f1 rears , centre etc and am looking for a nice sub to complete the set.

AE have stated they are happy to repair the sub so i may be ok keeping the aego T sub, however i would upgrade if the xs200 and or epos offer an improvement over the aego t

Mmmmm.......Looks like the BK Gemini is slightly losing this round.
I'd like to get something ordered; as I know theres a bit of a lead time for the BK's.
EPOS ELS is a nose in front - but your right - what about the Mission......?

looking at some of the comments on the missions predecessor it offers an improvement over the BKXS200.

someone described it inbeing between the xs200 and the monolith

Is it wise to spend £190 on the Mission E3asr and then paint it black!

Will it loof ok or cr*p?

Or buy your 2nd placed option in black?

Just ordered a NEW BK Gemini Mk2.

It has a bigger 10 inch driver than the previous mk1 (8inch), and a bargain at under £200. I only went for it as a monolith is too much size and noise for me atm, and will upgrade when I buy myself a house in a few years. Plus the gap between the Gemini and 200 is now much closer (according to Tom), so the same price of the Gemini makes it a steal. Now the question really is, is the 200 now worth £100 more than the mk2 Gem.

BK are excellent, just spoke to Tom over there for a while, it's nice being able to speak to a manufacturer direct, and know that the price is a reflection of quality, rather than the inflated costs of buying from a dealer, adding on a badge ;)

    Ditto - where's the Mk2?
That was one thing that was swaying me towards the EPOS and Mission - 10" as opposed to 8" - and the basic assumption of core ability to move air more efficiently. Dammit thought I had made up my mind.
I don't think there is going to be one clear winner here. All 3 are very good solutions; and for the money you could do a lot worse. And to be honest all the spec just clouds the issue for me. Into the old debate about frequency response and what is physically audiable anyway....which is way above me.
I'll end up just tossing a coin at this rate.....:suicide:

I bought the Epos M Sub when it was reduced.

Seems to perform well so far - only had it since saturday.
I havnt fully tested it yet, but when I turned up the volume I got a stern look (of approval) from the girlfriend.

    Very happy with the purchase!

Imo though the M Sub looks good, where as the other one looks a bit tacky... I'd probably go for a BK if you cant get hold of a reduced M Sub...

The M is a great sub - just about thrown the ELS into touch now - v good sub 4 music - but no room shaker . Waiting on the nice lady from BK phoning me back about a Gemini Mk2 - Although I've still not discounted the Mission... I'm even starting to look at the aethestics now - and the Mission having a remote. Jeez Somebody shoot me!

I've already made my mind up on the Gemini Mk2 (diff on Mk1 brings it closer to that xs200)
But the above statement still worries me - FGEvans1; where did you read this? & who is that someone?

Its a bold statement and I'm not ready to part with Cash until I can really discount that mission. I know there's a lot a stuff on the rounds about badging and name etc - and why I should bin it as an option. After much reading placement is an really critical part - and Mrs Gibletts is never going to let me get away with that BK if its really fugly.
But hey, if it nails that E series - then I'll stick a plant pot on it.
Gemini still ahead 60/40 (I'll probably end up with that mission though) when I'm told it will be 4 weeks for the BK

I wouldn't hold my breath for her 'phoning you back. I found it's best to telephone their office at 9am.

I ordered my Mk2 Gemini (not on the website but same price as Mk1) on 29th January and was told 2weeks. Got an update on Monday and was informed it would be ready this week.

I'm also having the exact same dilemma choosing between the Epos ELS and BK Gemini as both are the same price. My sub will be used for hi-fi only and I don't want to shake the walls but just want it to integrate well with my system and produce quality bass. I was not aware of a Gemini MK2 version. So what are the exact specs of the MK2 version. Someone said that it has a 10" driver but what about the amp ..is it still 150w or more now ? How low does it go at -3db ? Is it exactly the same price as the MK1 version and do they charge extra for gloss finish ? Has anyone actually received the MK2 version yet and how does it sound?look etc ?
I know a lot of questions but buying a sub is not as easy as I thought.
    Cheers:lease:

    O noes :(

Was told about 10 days by Tom at BK.

The statement by FGEvans is just an opinion of his of what he has read. I wouldn't have taken that advice, just read around yourself and decided for yourself, as that is exactly the same thing.

    Enjoy the mission anyway

Mate I know what your saying - I read some really fanstastic stuff on the GemII - but there's a couple of small things that swayed me on the the Mission; I'll be totally honest - It was not performance. Pretty sure the GemII will out perform it and anything in this £200 range. It was other things like remote on/off, looks (My furnitures Walnut...) & delivery etc. I know it's a bit shortsighted - but what the heck - I like a bit of a gamble. Whats the worst that could happen? - Sell it in a couple of months and get a GemII? Or it could be tickety-boo and all will be dandy. Either way I'll do a quick update for anyone else thats considering these 3 (Not that I've heard the other 2). Anyways - Thanks very much for all your help and input chaps.:smashin:

No worries, didn't know about the remote off function on the mission

As a note though you can get walnut on BK subs, but obviously you have to wait 2-3 weeks. I from the past that for some purchases you just MUST have them asap :rotfl:

    Enjoy

Its in "superfi" - now £244 (Black only)

Awe mate - I've already taken it back. It terms of looks, remote & display - was great.
In terms of performance.......Either I've missed somthing or I got a dud. It's the First Downward firing sub I've had and I cannot say I was that impressed (Especially If I had paid the RRP £550).. The volume needed to be up at 80 for anything to be heard (low level) and as soon as the volume was increased on the Onky - There was way too much distortion. I just could not get the levels right as their was no way I could configure the gain on the Sub (Only filter) I tried numerious AV settings and sub settings - and just could nt get it sounding any better than my ancient Kenwood Sub - Sorry mate - I gave in. There was little point outlaying the money for it. I'm going to try the Gemini Fella.
