Tom does drop by the forums on occasion, but I don't know if he monitors it regularly.

I know BK are pretty busy at the moment and have been since the beginning of the new year. They order book is pretty full so i would just hang in there guys.

Dont forget guys that these subs are made to order here in the UK and i know a lot of people recently have been going for custom finishes. Also, if you order a high gloss finish then they can take 3 to 4 weeks as they need to be sent to the painter in batches.

Tom usually answers the emails left on the BK site so its best to contact him that way :smashin: and the response is usually within 24hrs or sooner :smashin:

Just hang in there guys. Quality cant be rushed

I've e-mailed them a couple of times in the last week or so to ask technical questions, and Tom has responded very quickly. Can't fault their service so far, although I've not yet got my sub!

so i guess i'm the only one who doesn't get his emails answered ;/ (weeks since first email and i think over a week for the second one, using their website thingie).
Shame because from the tests it looked like it can be a nice alternative to the Svs, if only i could get answers :(

I think the problem with BK is that they really dont set your expectations.
When I ordered my XLS300 I was told a week, since I had already been reading the forums I thought that might be a bit optimistic. Anyway I called just after a week and then I was told, "oh they take 3 weeks". So.... it was 4 weeks this Monday ( I was on holiday last week), I called Tuesday and was told "the gloss black XLS300's are being sprayed at the moment and they will be ready soon", whats soon ??, today, this week, next week ? I've still no idea when I'm going to get it.
I would have been more than happy if when I placed the order I was told 6 weeks or what ever, these subs are built to order so people understand that but the problem is as I said they just dont set your expectations from the start.

    Many thanks

    Another one waiting here.

It all boils down to poor management/customer service on sales.
As delivery times come and go we all start contacting them for updated details. If we were told longer delivery times to start with we would all of been happy to wait for what is an excellent product.
Told 3 weeks, 3 weeks pass and nothing = unhappy customer who constantly phones/mails for updates.
Told 4-5 weeks delivery, delivered within 4 weeks = happy customer, bonus for getting product before 5 weeks are up. BK get left alone. Plus nobody posts about bad customer service, instead they post about receiving there product before due date.
We all understand that the product is hand made and appreciate that and don't mind waiting. What we don't like is over optimistic delivery times and lack of returned calls/e-mails.

It should be noted that the perception of the size of a lot of AV companies is somewhat distorted compared to their public profile.

Companies like BK are essentially housed in a couple of small industrial units on an industrial estate and frequently employ less than 10 people. During the holiday periods and times when illnesses are doing the rounds, people often have to do two jobs to keep things turning over.

Against this, you have to balance that their direct retail of their own subwoofers are very much a happy sideline to their real business, which is the OEM manufacture for other "manufacturers", MJ Acoustics being one, plus there are a number of other surprisingly high profile "manufacturers" in the domestic and PA fields. If staffing levels are tight, then it's these bread and butter customers that will get the attention.

I do think the lady who doubles as the receptionist could do better. She is the first line of contact and therefore creates the over riding impression during our dealings, but I must say the whole point of dealing direct with a manufacturer, is that you are cutting out the cost and convenience of buying a product from a customer focused high street retailer. There is no point whining about the lack of service, when that is precisely the fiscal saving you've chosen to make.

    Russell

I aggree Russ I placed an order for a black gloss xls200 was told 2 weeks which it has been not even going to ring.
its well worth the wait when you look at the quality & consider how much you would have to spend to match it in the likes of seven oaks!
Suppose im fairly laid back but dont want to hassle them or rush them it takes as long as it takes.

I would have phrased it a tiny bit more diplomatically, but a very good point Russell.

The point is, I'll bet the BK reception area doesn't have complimentary lemon scented napkins, just in case a client drops by...

Apologies Tom if you do... :)

I was quoted 7-10 days for a gloss black XLS200. It didn't state whether that was working days or elapsed (edit: whoops - I meant former!) days. Assuming the latter, and the fact that the south of England has ground to a halt due to a couple of flakes of snow, I'm prepared to guess that it will be a little while yet before I get my order.

However, the person who mentioned that BK ought to manage expectations better got it spot on.

Are they quoting "7-10" days because they fear customers will cancel orders if quoted 3-4 weeks? I doubt many would cancel - anyway, BK could try it for a short time to see what happens.

Under-promise and over-deliver! That's what all the best businesses do - irrespective of size.

maybe the longer delivery times has something to do with the low rate off the britisch pound sterling at the moment ?
it means much more orders for BK subwoofers from Europe at the moment
shopping in London has never been this cheap:spam:
