Hi, i am trying to settle a family "argument" with my brother about who are our godparents - my mum can't remember (tell me about it!!) and unfortunately our dad is no longer with us.

Does anyone know if godparents can be traced through any records - presumably they would have to sign something at the christening?

    Any help much appreciated!

I’m the godparent of 2 and cannot remember signing anything, the first one I went to I was given a card with the responsibilities of being a godfather but nothing on the second time.

Do you know where you were christened? Maybe they have some records.

God parents might have been recorded on the parish records. Can you check with the church that christened you - assuming that you are Christian, were christened and know where it was done. Older relatives might know.
