a few months ago I purchased a mp3 player and had it worked fine but last week it suddenly went bust it wont read any of the files nor will it ket me format the thing again its totally dead basically
i have been wondering why this happened and as i was browsing them online to get a replacement i noticed has a lot in the description about what bitrate these mp3's hold and generally the highest was about 320 its then i realised i had higher bitrates on my mp3 player one was acyually 500+
could this be the cause of my broken mp3 player?

thanks

320 Kbps is the max bit rate for MP3. If you've got a bit rate higher than that it is not an MP3 file. Most likely to be a lossless format like ALAC, FLAC or WM Lossless.

Are the files ripped or downloaded.

hi
a bit naughty i know but i downloaded them from limewire and they were definitely mp3s

The bitrates won't have done this, i a 99.9999999% sure of that.

Where exactly did you get the bitrate reading from anyway? What told you it was 500Kbps?

i just moved my cursor over them in my music it tells you all the details

thanks for the info anyway

In Windows explorer, or when you are using another piece of software?

Windows can sometimes report bitrates incorrectly for a couple of reasons, in future try something like Foobar2000.
