Hi I'm keen to try out some new surrounds in my room that can go straight on the back wall as Bipoles. My sofa is right up against the back wall and my B&W M1s are angled in towards me, but I don't experience an enveloping surround sound, so perhaps some bipole speakers would work better? Something like the Monitor Audio FX or ideally B&W Ds3 range would be good and they'd need to be black. Anyone selling? Hi, yes on the wall behind the listening position rather than the sides. I believe bipoles would work well in this sort of set, directly behind the listener rather than set as dipoles on the side wall (which I can't do anyway due to patio doors. Hi - thanks for the post I don't know much about this speaker but am aware of the DFS range from Wharfedale. Some questions: - How old are they? - are they switchable (i.e di-pole / bi-pole) - are they in good condition (any photos)? - what did you pair them with, i.e front speakers, amp etc? I have a Yamaha AV amp and B&W M1s at the moment, so wondering if these would blend in well with the M1s at the front? Thanks donnacha
Hi, I will get some photos up in the morning. Can’t remember excaltly when I bought them but they are over 10 years old, I am still using a pair as back surrounds in my system. The system I used them with was Yammy av amp, sub, wharfedale evo 30’s fronts, evo center and 2 pairs of dfs’s for back, back side surronds. I listen to a lot of music dvd’s So decided to go with front height speakers, drop the back speakers and move the sides back. The speakers are in good condition but have scratch marks on the back, we’re they fit to the wall. Can’t say if they would match you speakers, I don’t think it’s that important for surround use. Thanks Ps They are not switchable.
Thanks both for the offers and apologies for the slow response, been on the road today ! As I don't know much about either speakers I'm going to do some background research on both to see what their like review wise. @steve deakin do you have any photos of the Eltax? Thanks Donnacha
@kit1cat Sorry for the late reply - I’m out on the road this week but have managed to do a little reading and I think your wharfedales might be a good bet for what I’m looking to try. Looking at previous ones that sold on AVF (£30), currently on gumtree (£40) and what they sold for when new (reduced to £50), would you accept £35 delivered ? Thanks Donnacha
Hi Donnacha, thanks for your offer, but I think I rather keep them as backup then let them go at that price.
I think the speakers are worth £35, I have just checked parcel2go for delivery cost, Hermes 3 day collection/delivery service with £35 protection is £7-90. So I could do it for £43, thanks.
Hi mate - thanks for that. As I've been away most of the week, I'm going to measure the footprint of the speakers in the room when I get home tonight. In principle I'm fine with the price, but I'll confirm with you later if that's OK, once I'm happy with the size etc? Cheers
