Always liked these games, I am suitably impressed by the video on IGN.
Definately on the 'A' List for me, used to love Bionic commando back in the day
Bionic Commanda was one of my favourite games on my old spectrum. Loved it so much I got it for the Amiga too Looking forward to this one
Looks brilliant to me, looks about the right pace, all the shooters on XBLA seem too fast paced, added to that getting older, reflexes going etc, sure I was good at these when I was a nipper.
There's a new trailer for Bionic Commando(or at least I think it's new) on live marketplace, watched it last night and I have to say this update is looking fantastic!
Can see this being a must buy, especially with the included online co-op mode
On the subject of Bionic Commando, Capcom have opened a poll to ask how many points you think they should charge for this game(800 or 1200).
Worth getting over there and casting your vote while the poll is open, no need to register yourself or anything(just voted myself for 800 points, obviously), just the typical date of birth check and then you'll see the poll in the bottom left corner. Go forth people!
Watched the trailer today - I'm excited for it.
I'll fork out 800 points, but not 1200. Why would anyone actually vote for that option?!
Very impressive trailer. 800 points = buy. 1200... I'd have to think about it.
It's a shame it won't look as good as the PSN version. Apparently Capcom has approached MS to increase the size limit on XBLA games as Bionic Commando needs more then 150MB. There is no such limit on the PSN which means a bigger size game and higher resolution textures. Capcom have stated the PSN version will look better. MS really needs to sort out this size limit on XBLA games. I will definately be getting the PSN version.
i notice that microsoft stated that StreetFighter was a "special exception",to the size limit.
It'll be interesting to see what the differences are, but I doubt it'll be fatal. It won't be night and day.
The 150MB is perhaps a little low, now that we have bigger memory cards and more of an appetite for downloadable games. That said, a line has to be drawn somewhere and the limit is part of what makes XBLA what it is. I like the distinction between arcade games and full games.
Wouldn't be bothered is the PSN version was a 'little' better to be honest - like the look of the game as it is, and the whole ethos of the Arcade games for me is playability rather than textures.
Thought if MS want to develope the d/load market, how about a pricing structure based upon size.
0-100 = 400
100-250 = 800
250+ = 1200
400pts are going to be retro / basic games
800pts are going to be semi-decent new stuff
1200pts is XBox originals / semi-full scale games
Gamers could be given the option for games like BC to pay extra pts for a better version if they wanted.
The latest rumour is that MS may be backing down on Capcom's request. It remains to be seen if that happens and if it doesn't what difference if any there will be between the two versions. Personally this is one of the games I'm most looking forward to on XBLA and PSN. I'm definately going to get the PSN version regardless as I'm not keen on the 360 controller and much prefer the PS3 one. Also even if there is only a slight differenced I still much rather get the better version given the choice.
Those worried about the size restriction meaning the XBLA version would have to be cut down can now relax. Microsoft have given Capcom special permission to igonore the 150mb size limit for both Bionic Commando & Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix.
Hopefully now they've given way to Capcom on these two titles, it will pave the way for other exceptions to this rule also, maybe even kill off the size restriction entirely
Capcom have set this to a July release date for 800 points, cannot wait.
This out tomorrow?
Yep, should be, or Thursday to coincide with the PSN release.
We get it tomorrow.
Just received a fantastic review from IGN(giving it a 9.4/10), clicky!
I dont normally buy arcade games but this my be a purchase.
is it 800 MSP?
Yes it is. I just played the demo and it's a great game. I never played the original but it seems like at least from the demo this is a very good modern day interpretation of it. I'll probably buy it but if I do it will be on the PS3.
Didn't like it much in the olden days, so wasn't surprised to find that I don't like it much now either. It just feels clumsy and restricted to me.
Eurogamer gave it 8/10. Looking forward to trying the demo.
No online co-op and I hear it's fairly short... probably demo only for me.
I really don't understand that view. You obviously bought Braid which is single player only, shorter then Bionic Commando and costs 50% more. At least Bionic Commando has local co-op. It also has the 50+ wire frame challenge rooms and offline four player competitive multiplayer. Not to mention that it's an XBLA game and costs about one 8th the price of a retail game. Plus it's a remake of an old NES game that came out 20 years ago but has updated graphics. I think it has more then enough content to justify it's price and justify a purchase unless you're really not into these kinds of games at all.
I enjoyed it, but will be buying the PS3 version since I can only play this using the d-pad.
Bad post on my part - should have explained myself fully.
Personally, I wasn't a big fan of the original game and I don't play any offline multiplayer (other than PES). Online co-op might have pushed me to buy, but it isn't in there. Braid is single player only, of course, but it offered something a little different, making it an easier (albeit more expensive) impulse purchase.
I'll try the BC demo and see how it goes. I didn't know about the wire frame challenges, so who knows?
I played the tutorial this morning and part of the 1st level and really enjoyed it. I'll play a bit more later to see whether or not I make a purchase 3 weeks on the trot
