    I currently have a Bang & Olufsen (B&O) system comprising :

    Amp - B&O Beomaster 2200 (inc. 5 channel radio)
CD - 5142 (finger touch control)
    Turntable - Beogram 1500
    Speakers - Celestion: Ditton 15xR

I'm considering upgrading and looking for help and advice on whether its worth it or whether I'd be best starting from scratch ???

If I were to start from scratch then is there a second hand market for my existing system ?

I wouldn't be fussed about replacing the turntable so any new system need only comprise CD/Amp/Radio (pref. DAB) - unit or separates. I v. much like the output and compact nature of BOSE lifestyle systems - so would like any advice benchmarked against this ?

    Price bracket upto £2k

    Cheers

Many people round here are not big fans of BOSE, but are afraid to be honest and direct. Not me! BOSE is over-priced, badly put together and sounds worse than average! Avoid.

If you want the best CD/Amp/Radio around buy a Linn Klassic (unfortunately not DAB). It is £1000 and sounds lovely - note many online dealers are giving away some nice speakers free with the Klassic right now. You can add a good DAB seperate for £120 anyway.

Sorry, I don't know much about B & O (but I do know it is pricey too) but I have heard of some cabling idiosyncracies making some of them difficult to mix with other makers. Second-hand it may be worth something. Call a B & O dealer or check E-Bay for examples.

I'd be looking to use the new system for music but if a suitable option existed for TV/Movie upgrade then I would give it some serious consideration.

What budget are we looking at max?
For a completely new system for music and movies you could be looking at:-
cd player, dvd/sacd/dvd-a player, integrated amp, av receiver , Front left & right, centre, surrounds and a subwoofer. For a half decent system that would be comparable with the B&o system would be greater than £2k imo.
