94cm high x 76cm wide x 26cm deep (give or take the odd few millimetres).

    About 250

If the DVD's are double stacked, ie on top of the row then more can be fitted. I am buying the billy bookcase this week. I will post a actual figure end of next week.

I bought 3 of these not long ago. Havent got the dimensions but I got an extra shelf for each one so basically I have 4 rows each holding about 50 DVDs (600 for all 3 bookcases - the wide billy, not the narrow one).
Good thing about the Billy bookcases is that they are well made & you can get doors for them (although the doors end up costing more than the bookcases but look great. You can also extend upwards as well - after a lot of searching they seemed the most versatile for the price.

Actually I might as well ask my question here and get redirected to the right forum, if one exists.

I want to use a large Billy with doors for DVD and book storage, nothing complex there except I want to mount it off the ground and I don't know what fixings I'd need to do it - can anyone advise? :lease: I assume I'll have to create a "shelf" for the bookcase to stand on and then something simple to retain the top to stop it tipping.

I assume these things weigh about 30Kg** and complete with DVDs and books it could rise to 80+kg. I should explain I want to mount it in an alcove on a stairway and it will only fit if I raise it above the stair treads, hence the need to mount it on the wall.

    Any suggestions?

 **Just checked the Ikea website and the combo starts at 45kg before adding contents so probably 100kg when on the wall!

The bill range is unbeleivable! I have got one of the 7 footish wide cabinets ! I added 2 extra shelves and the doors (yes you can do it!) and it now holds every video and dvd i own! It is brilliant! Highly recommended!

I have gone for the shorter cases.

I can easily fit 200 within one case. I have also gone for the solid doors.
