Bike for £800 Question

I started cycling 2 years ago, commuting on cycle
Paths for 45 mins each way to work. Sadly, my bike is now costing more to repair than its worth.

I find researching bikes quite confusing as they always seem to have mixed reviews. Could anyone recommend a suitable road (I think) bike for commuting in London?

they have hybrid bikes and commuter selection
