At 4,992 reviews, is the Total DVD review database the biggest in the world?
Aside from the Amazon/IMDB one, of course, does anyone know of any bigger?

No I'm thinking specifically of a review database.
I want to boast on the Total DVD website:
Biggest independant DVD review database in the world.

If you want to boast about it, I'd at least spell Independent correctly :D

I'm not a member of the Widescreen Review site, but they advertise it as having "Over 4,000 Widescreen DVD Reviews", so you're ahead of them (I'm sure they'd say over 5,000 it it were!). I can't think of any more, offhand, that might be in the same ballpark, DVD Times has around 2,000 for example....

DVD-Basen is the biggest. Quote from their site: "Welcome to DVD-Basen, the world's largest DVD review database with links to 94897 reviews of 39104 DVD releases."

Nope - it's a database of links to reviews on other websites.
It's not a database of reviews.

Fine, so it's not an actual database but you get a lot better results looking for information about movies on dvd through DVD-Basen than you get from the Total dvd review database.

Not the point. You can say that about any SINGLE review database. But it's the review databases that do all the work of reviewing - link sites like DVD-Basen just link to them. Anyone can do that.
Ultimately you get through to the DVD review sites to read the reviews, anyway.

What is the point of this thread? Are you just looking for recognition of your own work? I'm not trying to take away credit from Total dvd database or any other dvd review database.

I'm just saying that one review is still in most cases just one person's opinion. To get the best overall picture you have to read several reviews

Yeah agreeing with you Mikkis, it's like "Hey I'm so brilliant look at this" type of attitude.

Who really cares how many reviews are on a particular site?

If I'm really interested in a film, I checkout several sites, from reviewers AND owners of the film... ie checkout Amazon & DVD Empire etc

Phew! Thought you were onto something for a minute, then. He has his own reviews but he links to reviews on other sites aswell -
    http://www.dvd.net.au/
    http://www.allzone4dvd.net/
    and
    http://www.dvdbits.com/
    for example.

The newest of his own reviews is
    http://www.michaeldvd.com.au/Reviews/Reviews.asp?ID=3176
Sink the Bismark. Which suggests he has 3176 of his own reviews at most.

 Uh here we go
I didn't write the reviews and I'm not unaware of what people want when it comes to DVD reviews.
But we're pushing to make Total DVD a top site and if we can put a little tag line at the top of the site saying that we have more DVD reviews than anyone else then that's quite a nice boast.

So far you've managed to wind up everyone else on the forums. I'd happily been exempt until now.
Don't bother trying to analyse the motivation behind the question, just help out by answering it. Or be quiet.

    Ok, I'll go along.

Total dvd review database has the most reviews. It works fast. So that makes it the best dvd review database...well almost.

Let's setup a poll than shall we?

Who sees me as helpful, honest type person who gives out pretty good advice, or am I am troll?

Maybe you should put a link to threads of some infamous trolls on usenet- M.C., I.S.M, A.K.

Yep, thanks - that has 1000 more. Submitted by many people, though.
So we're down to the biggest UK database, I guess.

    Hi Stuart,

Just had my first look at Total DVD.

Personally, I don't necessarily care how many reviews, because Total DVD is an excellent, British, review site for thousands of DVD reviews.

I say keep up the good work.
