Hello everyone,

I need some help with my TV.

I only recently bought it and used it for a couple of hours, and clearly has an issue.
I cannot return it, however I figured I can fix it.

The TV itself is a Samsung pn60e550d1f

Works perfectly when you turn it on, for about 30 minutes up to 1 hour.
After that, towards the left side, there are 3 fat (1") white verticle lines going from top to bottom.
They are white but somewhat transparent to color and some movement.

If I keep watching TV, they sometimes go away on their own, but come back after 20 minutes.

I already opened the TV when I first got the issue, unhooked all ribbons (I didn't clean anything as I didn't have any proper cleaning solution or high enough % alcohol)
I rehooked all cables, turned the TV back on and thought I fixed it... then the issue came back after an hour.

I will be doing it again, this time clean everything with Circuit board cleaner.

However, I have a feeling I may just need to buy and replace, what I think is the T-Con Board (According to research)
Ill have to open the TV again to get the accurate part number and hope I can find it for under 100$

My questions are the following.

Am I on the right track? Can anyone confirm that my issue is the tcon board?
Is the Tcon Board the main board that have all of the inputs? (HDMI's Components...)
Does anyone have any suggestions I can try?
Is it a common issue with this specific Samsung model?

Thank you for the help.

Well, I was busy with other things and seeing there was no reply I stopped thinking of it for a while and gave it another go.

I re-opened it, inspected all components looking for any kind of issue and found nothing.
I unplugged all cables, cleaned everything with circuit board cleaner, put everything back together...
TV works perfectly, 40 minutes into a movie, lines come back.

Anyone with the technical knowledge can tell me what component may be the cause, that way I could simply order a replacement part.

The picture quality is great, reason why I am hoping to give it new life.

Update in case someone gets a similar issue.

3 hours of active time on the TV now without the vertical lines... I am cautiously optimistic.

After hours of googling about plasma TV's to not find any real solution I did 2 things that may have helped, granted I doubt it is a real fix.

1- Given I have seen many threads of Samsung TV's with this issue, I though maybe a firmware could have been released to help stop or reduce the possibility of the issue happening.
So I updated the firmware. Went from 1025 to 2003
Firmware update on this Samsung tv is easy as cake. (Download, extract in proper folder structure, plug in to TV's USB port, menu, support, search for firmware update).
Just be sure you download the right firmware as such an update can brick a device if not done properly.

2- Given the issue happens after 20 to 40 minutes of on time, I figured maybe a tiny little component somewhere is getting hot and has minimal tolerance to running at it's designed spec.
So I set the power saving mode from Off to Low, which makes the screen a bit dimmer but I can live with the low setting.

Honestly I am a bit surprised, 0 replies since my original post on Dec 21 2020.

Cheers.
