It's all here. PWD7, Denon 2105, Panasonic E55, tons of cables. I've got a guy coming round in the morning to put the panel on the wall. So......should I have a go at connecting everything up tonight (which would mean temporarily wedging the panel upright somehow) or should I wait for the proper job tomorrow?

Big, big thanks to all forum regulars, particulary HD who has helped enormously. Staff at AV Sales have also been exceptional. Easy to order, easy to deal with and very good delivery. If this sounds like a PR job for AV Sales it's a fair cop - I'm always quick to condemn poor service (becoming the rule rather than the exception these days), so I'm more than willing to offer praise where it's due.

Only dilemma for me now is the E55. I was hoping to be able to plug in my camcorder with DV input and now realise that this is only available on the E65 - considered sending it back to AV Sales for an exchange but noticed this unit is considerably more expensive that the E55. However, price checking at Richer Sounds (I know, I know...) they actually do the E65 CHEAPER than the E55 from AV Sales. Now, as you'll have guessed, I am very, very pro AV Sales, but a DVD recorder is pretty much an out of the box experience. How out of order would it be to send the unit back to AV Sales and get the E65 from RS?

Anyway, despite the atrocious personal sporting weekend (England lose at cricket, West Ham lose, England lose at rugby), I'm in big excitement mode!!!

    Hi mate.

Restocking fee? Don't mind paying something, but isn't there some legal stuff re. distance selling that means you can send something back even if you don't like the smell of it!!!

To be honest, I knew the E55 was a chunk cheaper at RS but was willing to pay the extra to AV sales for their overall service etc. The price difference on the E65 is just way too much though. I may have a dabble with AV Sales to see if they can do a deal but the gap just seems enormous.

under distance selling you can return but a restocking fee can be charged if the unit is not "faulty" so yes legally they can charge a restocking fee best to give them a call and sort it out with them instead of me second guessing them....you should be well pleased mate.

    30 posts I think.

Unless I have misread the Distance Selling Regulations, then you should get the full amount of the item back.

England losing at rugby doesn't constitute an atrocious sporting weekend....<g>

OK, back on topic...have you considered the Samsung R100-E ...you can get it from tesco.com for £159.99. I am told it is like the Panny 65, but with the ability to record onto RW discs, and it still has your DV input for the camcorder. Anyway just a thought :)

Cheers RuddyRoad - I'd have thought you'd have been behind England this week after the manner of your defeat against France last week (even I have to admit you were robbed).

From what I can see of the Samsung, it doesn't suppport component out, which is pretty much central to the set up I'm looking to use. Do you know any different?

    Hi

I'd definitely try speaking to AV Sales about this. They may be able to help you out.

I think it used to be once you had 100 posts, then senior member after 1000
veteran member after 2000, although I could be wrong.

A good tip someone gave here, is make sure you note the serial number of your plasma before you install it on the wall. Makes it a touch easier should you need to phone anyone up about it, later on. :)

They already have thanks mate. Their service has been extraordinary.

100 posts - bloody hell, I'm still a mere infant!

The guy who delivered got me to look at the panel when he took it out the box to check condition and also helped me make a note of the s/n (thankfully).

The Samsung R100 is based on the Panasonic DMR-E50 (the previous model to the current E55) so is a decent enough DVD recorder with the added benefit of DVD-RW recording, iLink and coaxial digital audio output. The disadvantage is Flexible Record is only available via Timer.

The specs listed on their site are not applicable/wrong for the UK model - it does not have component output. If you use their support pages I believe you can download the manual if your interested.

Thanks guys. Good to see so many Hammers on this Forum - strangely most seem to have left England (presumably damage limitation)!

This seems a recurring feature - why do UK models seem to have features removed that are available for the rest of mankind. Andy why do we then end up paying more for them?

Early morning rant over I think.

Fair enough, I don't have this model, but it seems a bit rich having the wrong specs on the UK website for the UK model....
