    help and advice please.
i will mainly be using it for surfing the web at home, looking at pics (not editing). i also will occasionly use word etc. thats it really. probably wont even use it for dvd playback often, nor will it require a quality battery life as i will mainly use it at home. no hdmi or bluray req'd. no games or complex software so no high specs required.
i would however like a big screen.
im worried going down Netbook (NC10?) route that il find the screen too small. ovviously i dont really require it to be super light weight as i will only be using it at home.
i now have no internet access at home so i need a laptop pronto. advice would be great. should i go cheap laptop or netbook. my limit is £400. maybe something like the ....
Samsung R505 AMD RM-72 15’4 WVP 3GB Notebook PC kudos to VIRTUAL BOY in another post!

:lease: nice if was a smart looking bit of kit.

The main plus of a netbook is portability, its all about size and weight. I would say for you, a laptop would be a better buy as you say it will be used at home mainly. For £400 performance would be way better on a full laptop.

If weight is not an issue and you don't need a really powerful computer (from what you say your going to use it for) then you may as well go for a 17" one.

You can just about get a low spec Dell Studio 17 from the Dell outlet website which are decent laptops for the price.

The studio laptops are good looking (for a dell lol). My GF has a 17" acer which was ok until she cracked the LCD, great size for watching films in bed :rotfl:

cheers for your help dude. i live with just my girlfriend so i watch all my movies etc in the living room on a big screen. i probaly will never use it for dvd playback.
im at my mums at the mo using a DELL INPIRON 1525 which has a 15.4" screem. i just had to google it for spec. thinking about it that prob is the perfect size screen for me. it can be picked up for £360 now. but it is a bit basic....

im still liking the Samsung R505. dimension wise its a little bit neater, obviously with a smaller screen tho. tech wise is there much of difference between them?

i did see the tosh for £288, link bellow. im thinking the 17" screen might be too big! im a stupid paddy, sorry!
